Luci POV:
I know it was foolish to come here, much more the two of us, but we had to. I turn to apologize one last time to my brother….It was a regular day in hell, fighting, screaming, burning, the whole lot. I was sitting with my brother humming an old tune mom used to put us to sleep. My brother had his nose stuck in a book, with a few more on the table beside him. We tend to get into mischief and today was no exception. We had filled the pool with bleach and vinegar and turned the chef's food to spiders during breakfast. To no surprise, mom and dad didn't find it as amusing as we did, though dad looked pretty proud.
"Planning an escape, Luci?" My brother asks with a light hum.
"What else would I be doing?" I grin and point to the vines nearby, " think you can bring those a bit closer?"
I hear him laugh a bit, his hands glow and the plants approach our room balcony.
"Now shall we see what those explosions on the south end are about?" He asks, already knowing my response.
We quickly climb down and sneak out of the castle, running through an alley to grab our cloaks. Believe it or not, they kind of do help when you're trying to keep a low profile.
We hurry to the explosions to find a new gang war, I could tell my brother was excited, but something gave me an uneasy feeling.
"We should turn back," I look back for my brother to find he's already on the roof throwing some bombs to confuse both gangs, "Where did he even get those…."
I join him, brushing off the feeling.
We have our fun and laugh on our way home, the feeling slowly creeping up my back, making it's way into my skin and crawling in my veins. I look around. No one's there. I turn to my brother.
"Are you getting the feeling we're being watched?" I ask, not too bothered, but most certainly more aware of everything around us.
"A little, but I doubt it's something to worry abou- oh, hey a shortcut!" He cuts himself off, exclaiming happily, "We can make it home quicker and no one will be the wiser of our disappearance."
"I'm not so sure about that. We take this road because it's already really quick, plus that place is giving me a bad feeling." I respond, putting my hand a little closer to my weapon.
"What's the worst that can happen?" He chirps and walks in, I follow, ready for a fight.Just barely halfway through the path a group of demons surround us. Blades at the ready, obviously looking for trouble. I pull down my cloak and my brother's too, normally smart demons would back off, knowing who we are. One of them, I assume to be the leader, laughs.
"We know who you are. It's why we're here." The demon says with a triumphant smile.
"So, it's treason. How original," I say, drawing my dagger, " Hey, bro, how many of these guys do you think we can use as doormats."
"I think tweleve," He says with a grin, his hands burst into flames, "If they aren't too crispy."
They charge at us, my brother blasting most of them as I thrust my blade into throats and eyes. Screams of agony and the smell of smoke, always a sight in hell. We think we have the battle until the leader snaps, hundreds of more demons appear from the shadows and rooftops. Their focus on us, with beady red eyes and glares of death. I look to my brother, he nods. If we're going down, it won't be to some low lives trying to get at our parents.
I grin, looking at all of them.
"This is your army? How sad." I hear my voice ring out. I'm no longer in control as my eyes turn to a hot pink, "Let's dance, darlings."
One by one they pile on and are burnt, stabbed, beaten, and broken. I find myself fighting a small hoard away from my brother as one gets my arm, ripping it off, agonizingly slow, I dare not give them satisfaction. I feel the blood dripping, the pain searing through my body. I use my remaining arm to slice them to shreds and get back to help my brother with his hoard, their blood mixing with my own in a puddle, they fall, almost like dominoes. One by one they fall, and one by one they come back. More and more surround us as the blood loss makes me nauseous.
"We can't fight forever." He says to me, his magic fending them off, "plus that's going to need attention," he motions to my bleeding stump I once called an arm.
"I know, I know. But no one is coming for us, we have to either fight or find an escape." I try to think rationally, but the pain isn't helping.
All of a sudden, a portal appears under us, as we fall through, I look up. It closed once we were through. We land on soft grass near a small pool.
"What on earth happened to you two?" A voice echoes out. My brother and I look towards the sound. Why is this place so pink.
