The black smoke cloud went up into the night sky, the stars contrasting the dark color. The events that had just occurred had woken up the entire neighborhood, with many phoning the police as a result from the explosion.
Two girls limped away only a few blocks away, their arms around each other as they did. Their outfits were ripped and tattered with dirt and blood on them, along with several cuts along their bodies. The sound of police sirens could be heard in the distance, one of the girls turning her head towards the direction of the sound.
"Where's the sound coming from?" Adalyn asked Emma in a desperate tone as they walked into the road.
"I- I don't know, it's getting closer." Emma replied in a state of exhaustion, her tone sounding very breathy.
"What happened to the other three?" She asked, her voice shaking with fear. Before Emma could respond, her legs felt weak and she collapsed to the ground.
Adalyn gasped in surprise as she felt Emma's weight fall onto hers, slowly coming down with Emma as her weight was too much to bear for the state she was in.
Adalyn held the back of Emma's head as she collapsed, looking at the blondes face. She saw that her eyes were almost completely closed, her breathing sounding more relaxed yet exhausted.
"Please, come on!"Adalyn begged in an exasperated tone as the police sirens got closer. Suddenly, a pair of headlights came into view, temporarily blinding her for a second. She looked up and put a hand up to her face, blocking one of the headlights. She could see the blue and red flashes of light above the headlights as well.
Adalyn sighed with relief, her lips twitching upward with a smile for a split second, but she herself started to slowly go unconscious. Her vision became more blurred, her head starting to lighten, her muscles starting to relaxed. The cops stepped out of their car as Adalyn started to slowly limp downwards, the voices of the policemen becoming more and more muffled with each moment.
"Get them to hospital, NOW!"
