Kim Taehyung was waiting for them in the lounge when they returned from the storage room. He bowed politely and all of them took a seat. Gong Yoo faced him.
"Mr Kim, what was your relationship with Kang Daniel."
"I was his valet. I brought him whatever he needed, ordered his room service, booked his tickets and so on."
"Was he a good boss?"
"Not at all. He was unreasonable and very rude. But I tried to control my temper most of the time since he paid me well," said Taehyung holding his chest suddenly and gasping.
"Is there something wrong, Mr Kim?"
"No, I just felt a sudden heartburn. It's all right, probably something bad I ate."
"Okay, now how long were you in his service?"
"20 days shy of a year."
"When was the last time you had spoken to him or seen him alive?"
"11:30 pm when I had gone to his room to give him coffee. He was shouting at me because he was stressed out about the threatening letters he was receiving. I think his exact words were, "Did you keep these unpleasant letters by my bedside?" Then I replied, "If I were to leave you something unpleasant Sir, it would certainly not be a letter." Then he massaged his forehead and told me to get out."
"Hmm, surely such a perfect and precise valet like you would not dare to shout at his master......Unless he knew his career was coming to an end."
Taehyung gulped looking down.
"It's not just a heartburn, is it? You have a hole in your heart because of that condition....what's it called? Ah yes, an atrial septal defect (ASD)."
Taehyung made eye contact with Gong Yoo awkwardly, "It's genetic and so serious now that no treatment can help me. These were the words the doctor said to me."
"How long do you have?"
"Six months at most."
"Arasseo, thank you for your time." Then Taehyung stood up to leave.
"Mr Kim," Gong Yoo called out making the valet turn to him, "I'm uh sorry for the heartburn." Taehyung nodded with a blank face and left at the same time as Jung Hoseok came in and sat at their table with a smile on his face.
"Hey, before we start, I just want to assure you that I'm not gonna lie or anything. I had a bad past in which I committed a crime and then escaped the Beijing prison so I had a fresh start in Busan and now I am successful and honest."
"Okay, let's test your honesty. What professions have you had?
"I've always been the CEO of my automobile company."
"Oh, jinjja (really)? Because in that photo which is peeking out of your pant pocket, I can see a little kid wearing a chauffeur's cap standing next to a huge car."
"Um...yeah what does that have to do with my profession?"
"I assume before you started your company, you were a chauffeur in some rich family. And if I am correct, the family gave you money and supported you throughout your journey?" Hoseok nodded slightly looking ashamed.
"I guess that's honesty 101 for you. Anyways, moving ahead when did you last see Kang Daniel?"
"At dinner last night at around 9:00/9:30 pm when I was conversing with Professor Yoongi. He had a generally shady look on his face every time I saw him so I stayed away."
