Gong Yoo changed into comfortable clothes and padded around the room in his hotel slippers making sure everything was in place for the night. After that he did that, he kicked off his slippers and lay in bed facing the table near his bedside where he had placed a photo.
He smiled bitterly feeling a wave of melancholy washing over his heart and tears falling down his face as he looked at his beloved's photo encased in a wooden frame. "My Yumi,"he muttered clutching the frame to his chest and slowly drifting off to sleep, "Bo go ship da."
Gong Yoo awoke all of a sudden gasping for air after experiencing a horrifying nightmare. He ran a hand over his face feeling the dried tears there. He switched on his nightlight and checked the time in the bedroom clock:-12:30 am.
And just as he was calming himself down, preparing to go back to sleep, the most awful noise sounding like a siren could be heard outside his door. He cursed silently, slipping on his shoes and barged out of his room to check the disturbance.
As he stepped out his room, he noticed that the hallway was dimly lit, probably because it was the middle of the night. So he couldn't see much except a faint silhouette down the hall at someone's door. As he got closer, he recognised the figure to be Jungkook, the floor manager who was standing outside Room 310 as mentioned on the plate fixed on the door.
"Mr Daniel, Sir, you pressed the button on your side of the door, are you okay? Do you need anything?," Jungkook spoke softly but firmly. Oh, so this must be Kang Daniel's room, he realised. A hoarse voice spoke from inside, "Ani, gwenchana (No, I am fine.)." "Arasseo (Okay), Sir. Jaljayo (Good Night)." And not a single sound was heard further as Jungkook walked away to his desk in the dark.
Just as Gong Yoo walked back to his room, he noticed another figure running down the hall and quickly switched on the light next to him. He could make out a woman running, well sprinting in a red kimono and opening the main and only door for exit and entrance to escape. He didn't think much of it and lay down on his bed again.
He spent the rest of the night sleeping peacefully without any mishaps. Waking up at 8, he washed himself in the grand bathroom and dressed appropriately to go down to breakfast. As he locked his room using that keycard (he still hadn't gotten the hang of it), he could hear Jungkook standing outside Room 310 holding a breakfast tray and looking perturbed.
"Mr Daniel? Your breakfast is here. Please open the door. Is everything alright?", he could hear Jungkook knocking on the door and asking. He walked up to him and he too banged on the door calling out Kang Daniel's name. He then bent down and checked the empty space below the door and then turned to Jungkook with a fearful yet determined look on his face.
"The air below is cold. I think something really bad has happened. We have to break down this door." "No need for that Sir, we are in a modern hotel. Let me just bring my master keycard quickly." And Jungkook rushed to his desk and quickly brought the master keycard inserting it in the slot on the door. Gong Yoo then kicked the door open but they both stepped back in horror at the sight in front of them. Neither of them were prepared for it.
Kang Daniel lying in his bed with his chest covered in blood obviously dead.
"Jungkook call Jackson quickly. I don't have his number,"said Gong Yoo slowly who seemed unable to avert his eyes off the dead body no matter how much he longed to. It seemed like an eternity before the elevator on that floor dinged and Jackson came rushing towards them with only a towel wrapped around his lower half.
"What happened, what happened? Jungkook you sounded hella urgent on the phone. And don't look at me like that, I was in the shower.," Jackson paused to catch his breath and looked inside the room. His scream could probably be heard in the whole hotel. "Oh my god, is he dead? Who killed him!? Wait how was he killed?," Jackson couldn't seem to stop rambling, his eyes dilated in horror.
Gong Yoo walked away from the scene leaving Jungkook and Jackson frozen before Jackson regained his senses and ran towards him holding his towel. "Gong Yoo, Gong Yoo, my old friend, you're a detective. You have to solve who murdered him please, I'm begging you, I'm down on my knees."
Gong Yoo turned around to look at him, his breathing shallow. "Get up Jackson, you look stupid. And no, I won't solve this case. I need some peace and after seeing that my desire to be alone has only intensified. My vacation has been spoiled."
"You can still have your vacation, just think of this as a little beachside puzzle. Listen, the reputation of this hotel is gonna drop down sharply, it may even been closed. My dad is going to be so mad at me. And-and think about the other people staying here. A killer is clearly on the loose here. He might kill more innocent people. Please, I'm imploring you on the behalf of the Seoul Andaz Gangnam."
"Okay, I accept," Jackson cheered holding his towel.
Gong Yoo continued, " I see evil in this hotel and I do not approve of murder, my friend. Every day, we meet people the world could do better without, yet we do not kill them. We must be better than the beasts. So let us find this killer. We have some guests to investigate."
