*3 years and 10 months later*
Dan rushed along the crowded sidewalk, clutching his folder of music close his body. He was now a full time composer, working mostly with the same youth symphony he had started with. Recently, however, adult symphonies had started using his work. He had been working hard for the past three years, with often little time to do anything other than music, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Of course with all his time spent working he hadn’t had any long relationships. He gone on a few dates with various men and women that he met in the music industry but nothing had progressed past a quick fuck. He didn’t mind though. Spending all his energy on work had paid off.
Now he was bundled up against the cold December air making his way towards the park he had visited every year on this date. The one time a year he allowed himself to think back to the past. Remembering the good and bad as he sat on their bench watching the ice skaters.
He was a bit late this year, there wouldn’t be too much time before everyone left the park and it would become socially unacceptable to sit on a park bench alone. Glancing at his watch Dan hurried along.
Watching the ground as he walked Dan ran right into someone else. “Oh shit,” he exclaimed as all his precious hand written songs flew onto the ground.
“I’m really sorry,” the person he had bumped into said as he began to help Dan gather up the papers, chasing them in different directions.
“It’s fine,” Dan yelled over his shoulder as he grabbed the last few escapees. “I should have been looking where I was going.”
“Me too,” the other man turned to hand Dan the papers.
Dan shoved the ones he was holding in his hand into is folder. Looking up he noticed the stranger’s face was almost completely obscured by a scarf except for his eyes, his stunningly beautiful and oddly familiar eyes. Shyly Dan grabbed his paper, “Thanks.”
“No problem,” the stranger’s eyes crinkled. “Which way are you going?” he asked.
“That way,” Dan motioned with his head.
“What a coincidence,” the man laughed at a joke that only he seemed to understand, “me too.”
The two men set off, walking leisurely along the side of the ice skating rink.
“So what brings you to the park this evening?” the bundled up stranger asked with feigned air of innocence.
Dan keep his eyes watching where he walked as he responded. “This is where my first major boyfriend and I got together. It’s also where we last said good bye.”
“How strange,” the man stated, “I’m here for the same exact reason, the same boyfriend story.”
“Really?” Dan asked. “That’s really odd,” he said glancing over, as it finally dawned on him why the blue eyes had looked so familiar.
“I know crazy. It’s almost like we’re both stuck in relationships from the past,” both boys stopped walking as they had reached the bench.
“I’ve visited this bench every anniversary of our first date,” Dan admitted locking eyes with the other boy.
“And I’ve visited every day since I got back from Japan a month ago.”
Dan reached up slowly to move the scarf from the other man’s face. “Hey stranger,” he whispered.
“Hello,” Phil blushed taking Dan’s hand into his own. “It’s been too long.”
“Way too long,” Dan stared down at their hands, still as entranced by the way they fit together as he had been so many months ago. “Neither of us are ever allowed to leave for that long again.”
“I’m never going through that again,” Phil agreed. “I missed you too much.”
“I missed you more,” Dan stepped slightly closer.
“Impossible,” Phil declared, finally closing the gap in between the two men and connecting their lips just as they had been four years ago. Holding Dan as close as possible, never letting go again.
A/N: Yay it all turned out okay (I would never subject you guys to a sad ending, they’re the absolute worst). Thank you all for reading some or all of my first chaptered phanfic :) I apologize for the cheesy ending and numerous typos but I had a lot of fun writing this and I hope you enjoyed reading -xox Sam
