Nothing beats the feeling of soaring through the air. Nothing. It’s even better when it’s that one day that the rink is freezing cold. The bitter air flushing your cheeks, the wind from your speed blowing your bangs out of your face. Nothing beats that feeling. Nothing.

I’m Carmenn Di Giovanninni , “The jumping queen” and “the girl with the hard-to-pronounce last name”.  Yeah that’s what they call me, I don’t mind the jumping queen one honestly I LOVE that nickname. Although the last name one is quite annoying, that nickname was given to me by my mortal enemy Raquel Stevenson and her two back-ups Sabrina Jones and Tennley Evers. Honestly my last name isn’t that hard to pronounce it’s just DEE GEE-OVA-NEE-NEE, sheesh why make fun of me for it. I have the good habit of not letting things get to me. My Nana always says that they are jealous of me and that’s why they make fun of me they want to be me.

Nana is so nice, like the nicest person I know (also the richest person I know). Nana always took me to practice, she paid for my skates, my dresses, my private coach, for me to do synchronized skating, and my competitions, she wants me to pursue my dream and go to the Olympics. As for my parents…not so much.  But that’s okay it’s not like they aren’t letting me skate.

Figure skating. Those two magical words are literally my life. I do like books, and music, but not as much as skating. NOTHING could ever take over skating. I skate four times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. It may sound like I skate a lot, but to be honest it’s only like seven hours a week. Sadly I still have to go to school. In third grade I begged to be homeschooled, yeah my parents never gave in. So here I am attending Pine Heights Middle, my least favorite place on this planet. I hate it there. No one figure skates, or even likes skating. Everyone wants to be cool so nobody likes books, and even worse my two best friends Rowan Jordan and Kasey Grimmes don’t go there. Lucky Kasey gets to go to a fancy private school up in north county. Although Rowan feels my pain and is stuck at a public school.

Kasey, Rowan, and I are teammates. We all are on ‘Diamond Blades Synchronized Skating Team’, and we have our competitive training class together. I find it that you are closer with your team mates than with out-of-activity friends. No offense to my only school friend Prim, but honestly we aren’t that close. Sure we see each other every day, but she still seems new to me. As for Kasey, Rowan and I we literally know everything about each other.

I do love my friends and family, but right now I plan on going to the 2010 Winter Olympics, so skating is literally what I devote my time to.
