I got dressed a little early that morning, so I flipped on the TV. I was once again home alone, since my parents went to a conference with my teachers.

I don’t exactly want to make a career on meteorology, but I find the weather man so interesting. It especially entertains me when they use the fun little snow, rain, and sun icons. I’m just so amused.

I turned on the TV right as the weather report was ending. So the scene flipped back to the boring news anchor. I kind of zoned out for a minute until I heard the words, “Regional champion, Carmenn DiGiovanninni spotted practicing on the Big Lake at Skyline Park, in Northern Boston.”

I turned the volume up louder. I’M ON THE NEWS! FOR SIMPLY PRACTICING INFRONT OF PEOPLE! Then the scene changed to a video someone in the crowd took of the part in my long program with my triple axel. The video showed me landing it flawlessly. I couldn’t believe it. Then the scene changed back to the news anchor again. “Wow, that girls got some talent. She is hoping to qualify for the Olympic team, at Nationals in two months. Stay tuned for more of your local news after the break.”

I shut the TV off, still gaping at the black screen. I had to call Rowan!

                “Hello?” Rowan asked.

                “Hey, it’s Carmenn.” I said.

“I just watched that video clip of you in the park yesterday, on the news!” Rowan screamed into the phone, making me plug my ears.

“I’M SO SHOCKED, AND EXCITED!” I screamed back. “THE WHOLE STATE OF MASSACHUSETS JUST SAW ME LAND A TRIPLE AXEL!”

                “EEEEEEEEEEK!” Rowan squealed.

“Thanks,” I smiled. “Oh god I got to get to school. See you later. Bye.”

                “Bye Carmenn congrats!”

                “Thanks,” I smiled again. “Bye.”

“Hey mom, how was the conference?” I asked as my mother walked through the door. I was sitting on the couch, sipping a smoothie. I had just gotten home too, dropped off by coach coming from an awesome skating practice. Rowan and I fangirled a few times over the fact I was on the news with my triple axel. Speaking of triple axle’s I also landed a few of those at today’s practice.  So the day was so far so good.

“I love you too sweetie,” my mother stated sarcastically. I rolled my eyes. “It was good. The teachers talked to us about ways to help you, but your father and I didn’t like them. It was like staying after school for tutoring,  that just wastes your skating time.”

                “So?”

“We are enrolling you in a private school.”

                “REALLY!?” I asked excitedly.

“Yes,” my mother said. “You start in two weeks.”

“Oh I can’t wait until I get out of that dump!” I sang skipping up to my room. “Today was awesome!” I muttered to myself.
