“Okay you girls go find her I will talk to the judges,” Coach Mary instructed Rowan and I.
“No problem,” Rowan replied pulling me off to the locker room.
Why would Kasey just run away, this was her moment? Then I thought about our fight at the mall, and how Kasey had said she was tired of constantly skating her life away. But there is absolutely no way Kasey would quit right before her long program. Unless she wanted to make it more dramatic, but that isn’t something that the Kasey I know would do, but then again I didn’t think she was going to really quit.
Rowan and I barged into the locker room.
“Kasey Elaine Grimmes! Did you seriously just walk out on your moment?” Rowan shouted, starting to sound like her mother.
“Why are you here?” Kasey asked removing her right skate.
“Because, we are your best friends.” I answered, walking over to Kasey. “So we should know…why did you walk out on your moment?”
“Because…I…remember the conversation at the mall?” Kasey asked, untying her left skate.
“Duh, of course we do.” Rowan said rolling her eyes.
“I’m quitting.” Kasey stuttered wiping away a small tear.
“WHAT-“ Rowan started
“It’s her decision,” I calmly stated cutting off Rowan.
“But, she is just so amazing. She can’t give up now.” Rowan complained.
“I want to okay. I want, and need a life.”Kasey stated angrily stuffing her skates into her bag.
“Hey, Kasey. Um…I think you should at least perform your long program.” I said.
“My heart isn’t into it anymore. I don’t want to,” Kasey replied grabbing her bag and starting out the door. “Now, goodbye.”
“Wait,” Rowan exclaimed.
Kasey stopped.”What now?”
“At least watch Carmenn skate,” Rowan muttered. “She’s your best friend.”
