After swooping you up from the ground Lev briskly ran you to the school infirmary. It would be impressive you weren't so focused on your throbbing ankle. The crisp morning air was typically a comfort but now it was the direct opposite, biting your nose and burning your cheeks. The river water was cold enough without the added wind resistance. Lev was quick on his feet, especially for a tall guy, he didn't want you to be outside in skin-soaked clothes. When Lev got you inside it was a little better, he walked a little slower in the halls to the infirmary but still had a very obvious rush in his step. Once in the room the nurse took one look and immediately rushed over. You didn't focus on the recap on the situation, instead finding a comfortable spot on the bed you were set on. You teared up earlier but couldn't let yourself fully cry, even with the guilt of making Kenma fall eating you up. Lev explained the incident and informed them that not only was it you but Kenma as well that would be visiting. They fetched you an extra set of clothes, just a bit larger than your size and let you change in the bathroom. It was difficult to slide off the clothes while applying pressure to only one foot but you found a way, breathing steadily while your practice clothes squished on the floor. They weren't wrung out but the wind had let them dry just enough that it wasn't like just dumping water on the floor. Once changed and with your clothes to the side, you stepped out of the bathroom and the nurse helped you to one of the beds. Lev waited until you were on the bed and in proper care before making his exit, his shirt damp from run off water.
The nurse made sure you didn't have a concussion first, asking you basic questions like your name, location, the date etc. but then moved on to your ankle. It was already swelling and had a ring of bruises starting to show up. It looked scary but they informed you that it wasn't serious. You didn't focus on them or their explanation though, your attention drawing to the door as Kenma and Kuroo stepped in together. Of course Kenma was dripping wet too, his hair sticking to his cheeks and his lips trembling just a bit. For a second, you saw guilt in both their eyes when they saw you. The nurse walked to a cabinet and produced a second set of spare clothes, sending your friend to change in the bathroom. Kuroo waited by the entry, looking at you.
"You look cold. Need me to warm you up?" It was an obvious bait into a laugh. He wanted to make sure you were okay by earning a laugh. He drew out a giggle but that seemed to satisfy him enough to smile himself.
"Is Kenma really okay?" You couldn't help but worry. He's all you thought about. Your nervous energy was valid but Kuroo wasn't entirely used to it.
"Kenma? You're the one with the hurt ankle." He snickered at you and made his way to you, sitting next to you. "He's fine. Barely a bruise." His words comforted you as did sitting next to him. Even if he was a little bit of a tease sometimes, his attitude was on occasion a solace. "What happened though? Neither of you are all that clumsy." He looked to you, his eyes trailing from your damp hair to your neck and shoulders. You still had goosebumps on your arms too.
You had to think about what did happen. It happened so quick.
"I fell." You didn't know how to elaborate right away but Kuroo gave you time to find words. "Kenna tried to catch me and ended up tumbling too." You rubbed your hands together on your lap. You couldn't stop thinking about how...panicked he looked. How desperate he seemed to be. "I think my foot might have caught on the edge of the concrete since I was drifting to the right as I ran." You shrugged, not meeting his eyes while his gaze locked on your legs and thighs. There weren't too many rocks on the actual grass hill but the gravel in the river was pretty agressive, leaving you with a sizable bruise on your leg and scrapes on your knees. Although Kuroo seemed like he wanted to say something he didn't, letting the words fall when Kenma left the bathroom in new clothes. He sat on the bed besides yours while the nurse started his routine questions.
