Chapter 13 -

I awoke the next morning on Kyle’s chest, the sun was also peeping through the curtains. I smiled and stretched, it was the holidays! Yes! I loved half-term as it meant that I got to spend a week with Kyle and not have to worry about Jenna.

“What you smiling about?” Kyle asked stroking my hair, I turned and faced him.

“Half-term.” I shrugged.

“Yeah, that is something to smile about as I get to spend a whole week with my girlfriend.” He smiled and I raised and eyebrow.

“So that’s what I am it?” I tried to hide me smile but failed. Kyle laughed and kissed me. I would never get tired of him kissing me; it was the best feeling in the world apart from the night in the hotel, eep! That was so amazing. It was as if Kyle knew what I was thinking and wrapped his arms around me and deepened the kiss. I really wanted to go further but I knew I had work to do. I pulled away and sat up.

“What’s wrong?” Kyle whispered caressing my shoulder.

“Well I have to avenge someone’s death and by doing so I have to face my new enemy.” I shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal, but the problem I knew it was a big deal. Nothing was ever simple in my life anymore. Kyle made a face and got out of bed.

“Where are you going?” I asked as he was about to head out of the door.

“To get dressed, and you should do the same as we are going to get Luke to confess.”

“Right.” I muttered and Kyle left. I got out of bed and went and sat at my dressing table, I looked in the mirror and gasped and turned.

“God Joanne, you scared me!”

“Good.”

“Ya know if you want me to avenge your death, you are going to have to be a bit nicer to me.”

“Fine.” She didn’t sound pleased but it worked for me.

“So, what are you doing here?” I asked her turning back to the mirror to brush my hair. My beautiful long mahogany brown hair.

“I came to see how you were doing about avenging my death. Why do you have a dressing on your neck?” I looked in the mirror to see Joanne’s reflection looking at me intently.

“Well Luke knew something was up when I saw you last, then attacked me but a man came in and he pretended to be all over me. He then bit me.” We both shuddered.

“Tell me about it.” I sighed. “What did you see in him?”

“Evil.” She stated and I stared at her.

“Come again?” I was confused. Joanne sighed loudly.

“Well when I first met him, I thought he was perfect for me. Then every time he touched me, I felt weird, I then noticed that he always carried a powder in his pocket and when I asked him about it, he called it his hocus pocus. When I felt weird I would do evil things like when I tried to kill you and Kyle. I hated it and when I confronted him, he said I was crazy.” I stared at her open mouthed. She had seen the powder that he had used on me.

“Shut your mouth, you look like a goldfish.” Joanne snorted and I obeyed. Luke and Joanne had different things about each other, but somehow I knew that Joanne was telling the truth, as the emotion she showed while explaining could not have been faked.

“How long were you with Luke?”

“About ten years.” Of course. It all made sense. Joanne had stared acting weird when we were eight and she bragged that she had a boyfriend but I didn’t believe her as were kids.

“I had always wondered why you were evil.” I muttered more to myself.

“Excuse me?”

“When we were younger we were best friends, then you met Luke and went all funny on me. You moved away. You aren’t evil! It’s Luke! And I’m going to kill that retard.”

“You sure about that?” Kyle asked standing in the doorway.

“Didn’t you ever hear of knocking?” Joanne frowned. Kyle’s eyes narrowed at her.

“Yes I’m sure Kyle. I’ve known Joanne all my life and she was never like this, it was Luke. I swear down by it.” It felt as if I had an epiphany. It was so weird but cool!

“Kyle is right, I have always had bad in me but maybe Luke just helped it along.” Joanne looked at her feet. I was determined to try and make this right so I got up and grabbed a rucksack from the wardrobe.

“What’s that for?” Kyle asked eyebrows raised.

“To hold things which hopefully will take Luke down and get him to confess to the murder.” They both stared at me open mouthed.

“Now who looks like a goldfish?” I grinned eyeing Joanne who frowned and shut her mouth.

“Joanne, can you pick things up?” I asked shoving a blanket into the rucksack.

“Yeah why?”

“Go down to the garage and get some rope.”

“Ok.” I looked up to see Joanne leave the room.

“Ava? What’s the rope for?” Kyle looked worried.

“For tying him up stupid.” I stated. Why else would I have rope?

“I knew you were gonna say that.” He pursed his lips and looked down.

“Then why ask?” I chuckled as Joanne came in with the rope.

“Good.” I said shoving it in the bag along with a torch and matches. I didn’t know what the matches might be used for, but I had feeling that I might need them. I then slung the bag over my shoulder and headed out the door followed by my human boyfriend and my cousin who was a ghost. Nice.
