Chapter eight

Antonio's POV

I glanced at her as she quietly ate her meal she looked nervous her eyes roamed around avoiding to look at me " I the food great"? Lightening the mood " yes it's delicious! She glanced back at her plate I could sense how uncomfortable she was around me as I stared at her beautiful simple white dress her cleavage showing I hated how men stared at her " so uhm if you don't mind me asking why did you bring me to dinner"?  She asked with her soft voice that sending chills on my body God what is wrong with me, okay what do I answer her because I like to know you "  I want to offer you a job" I confirmed she looked stunned at what I told her " A job!? She repeated again " yes, we'll I know Josh fired you because of the little incident today morning and I want to help you"! I took a sip of my red wine as I waited for her response " why do you want to help me"? She retorted " Is that a bad thing to help someone out" I went on she chuckled as her smiled genuinely " No it's just you don't know me and I just met you like two nights ago"? She rumbled " Okay then tell me about yourself so I could get to know you! I sighed her eyes darted at me then back at her hands as she inhaled and exhale before she started " well I have a family or had, my dad died two years ago " her eyes held mine as she tried to regain her posture " Am so sorry for your loss" I told her " it's fine now, I used to live with my mum but then things got in the way and I moved out. " What got in the way"? I asked curiously " The guy who was at the parking lot today let's just say he's the reason I moved out" she sighed " was he hurting you ! I clenched my jaw at the thought of anyone hurting her she glanced at me and her eyes explained everything " Mom brought Roy home last year , ever since dad died she hasn't been herself, drinking letting Roy run her life our money so yea" she finished and gulped on her drink " I know what you're thinking" she retorted " oh really enlighten me"?  I chuckled " well like Josh told me a messy baggage"! She frowned " well to me your not if you work for me I'll protect you"! I confirmed " No offense but Roy is a Trainwreck like the definition of troublemaker! I wouldn't want to bring you problems" she went on I laughed alittle at her praising that idiot I leaned forward as I laced my hands together " Have you met me"! I narrowed my eyes at her as I watched her shiver a little by my words " so is it a deal? I asked her " What exactly work are offering me "? She asked " What's your profession I mean you have finished university right? I asked her " Yes ,I was studying to be a chef also majored in literature"! she smiled " okay then you'll be my chef"!  " Wait just like that don't you have to taste my food first"?  She retorted " if you insist, tomorrow I'll send one of my drivers to come pick you up at your house by 7am sharp and bring you at my penthouse"! I finished as my phone buzzed I immediately took it off from my pocket to find an urgent message from Marco I looked back at her to meet her worried gaze " is something wrong ? She asked concerned " I have to go take care of things, don't worry finish up eating I'll have a butler get you a car to get home"! I said as I stood up " ohh okay "! Her soft hushed " I already paid for everything so can leave after you finish up, I'll see tomorrow right"!? I asked her " yes I'll be there" she smiled I nodded at the confirmation and walked out I left direct orders to the butler and before I stepped out I glanced at her from afar as I felt my heart do a somersault at the sight of her in my eyes then I walked out.

I fasten my pace up the stairs going to my office .Marco's text shock the hell out of me " what the hell happened "? I barged in the door to find Valerio and sitted at the sofa with his hands buried in his hands while Marco paced back and forth " Antonio  our tracks got hit today" Valerio sighed "what! What do you mean we got hit ?  " They were attacked  during delivery for our suppliers"! Marco chimmed  " did we loose all of the coke"? I looked at their faces and confirmed it " we were out numbered, they were so many"! He growled I felt my body heat up as I launched my fist into the wall, I went on hitting the wall over and over until my fingers were busted  "how many men did we loose"? I breathed out as I regain my posture  " Six, four injured! Marco said as he poured a drink for me  I gulped at the cold whiskey burning my throat " Do you think it's the Russians" Marco asked me as I losened my tie and took a sit at chair " Off course it's them" I sighed " well we need a new shipment or else our people are going to start getting cocaine from them" Valerio imposed " I'll work on that for now make sure the men who died get a proper burial send money to their families, make sure the injured are attend to" I finished as I removed my phone from my pocket and searched for my brother's number " Should I get you ice for that" Marco suggested referring to my busted bleeding fingers I looked up at him he had his concerned face on him. He's always been that way responsible of everything " No am good Marco"!

He nodded silently and walked out shutting the door. I sighed as I waited for him to pick up " Big brother" ! I smiled when his voice boomed in " How are you Alejandro"! I chuckled " Good how are you, how's New York? " It's been thrill" listen am calling to ask if I can get the shipment earlier than expected" I asked " woow! Business is going great if the products are selling out fast"! He seemed genuinely happy " Not exactly, I do own New York but there's been a little problem today"! " What happened?! He asked concerned " We got hit today during our supplying , my men were attacked I lost six" I finished " Damn bro, you know who's behind it? " There's a new cartel in town, the Russians ! It's like there declaring war against me" I barked " well that's bad for business, well I'll see what I can do here but you'll get it soon but I think you should tell dad about this! He advised he's always had been good at that " yea I'll try and work this out first! I reasoned " oh come on Antonio just talk to him, he's been asking about you recently"! He went on " oh! Really now" I laughed " Am serious Antonio just talk to him! He demanded  " Fine I will I'll call him tomorrow I think" I assured him " okay I'll make sure your get the products soon" he confirmed " so  any new girl I should know about"? He laughed " Not really have had my hands full lately" he sighed " well how about you? He asked " no, I'll probably die alone " I laughed as he joined me " Me and you both brother", he chuckled " well I have to go I had a day"! I retorted " yea me too" see soon brother! " See you soon! I ended the call and winced at the pain on my hand, removed my stored cocaine and snorted alittle to get relaxed I closed my eyes and the same brown eyes from yesterday came in my mind
