Chapter Twenty One

Maryjane's POV

I walked back inside the room more calm and settled Sophia gave me a smile as she stepped outside followed by the nurse after she gave my her a pill to calm down. I slowly walked close to her and sat on her bed quietly fidgeting with my fingers.

" What's going on MJ? I have seen that look before," she talked calmly

" Mom what am about to tell you is heartbreaking and I need you to listen very carefully" I sighed

" Okey, is this about your dad?

" Yea, it's entirely about him! My voice shaking

" Your scaring me sweetheart"

" Listen mom, dad passed away one year ago in a car accident" I swallowed hard as my hands squeezed her hands

" What! Her voice softly broke we her eyes tear up

" You don't remember this because you have a measure"! I slowly went on

" This doesn't make any sense" she shrieked

" Just listen....

I slowly started to explain everything that happened the night of the accident how the car went off the road and into the river , how I survived and he did not . I went on telling her everything and by the time I was done she was quiet starring back at me with tears flowing down her cheeks

" Am so sorry mom, I know this do hard for you but I'll be here will get through this together" I assured her as I pulled her into her tight hug just as the door opened

" Aunt Marisa! I turned to find my mother's sister standing at the door

" Maryjane , how are you? She pulled me into a hug

" Am good aunt, thanks for coming" I flashed her a smile

" How is she? She glanced at her

I turned to look at her as she layed her head on the pillow

" Did you tell her? She asked

" Yes , she hasn't said a word to me!

" Why don't you go and get some fresh air I'll be with her!

" Okey! I sighed as I glanced at her and back at my aunt as she sat beside her before walking out

I slowly strolled down the hallway going to the waiting area to find Sophia as sound from my phone jolts me reading the text from Sophia telling me that she had an emergency call from her work and she had to take off I switched the phone as I stepped outside the hospital and sat down at the bench near by letting the fresh air set in.

" Maryjane! A familiar voice pulled me from my thoughts

" Jack! Hi, what are you doing here? I stood up facing him

" There's a patient I came to interrogate for my investigation" he smiled

" Investigation"? I cringed in confusion

" Ooh! I never told you I work with the NYPD (New York Police Department) am a detective"

" Woow! I never knew you were into law enforcement"!

" Yeah! After I left I had an experience that made me switch careers and I happen to be good at it so here I am" he breathed

" That's good" I smiled as I averted my eyes and faced the ground

" So what are you doing here anyways ?

" I just came to visit my mom"

" What happened is she alright? He asked with concern in his eyes
