Chapter twelve

Maryjane's POV

It's been two weeks now since I started working for Antonio as his chef and it has been a thrill. I made friends with Clara the receptionist downstairs, Miss Tan the housekeeper and Rico and Tyler Antonio's bodyguard who have been so nice to me ever since I baked cupcakes and brought it for them ever since I have never stopped coming with either cupcakes or cookies at the penthouse.

I quickly opened the door and got in as I sprint to the kitchen and kept my bag away together with my raincoat, I was so late it was raining outside and the subway was so congested today. As I started making his breakfast I heard men's voices coming through the front door I moved to go check who it was to find two tall handsome men standing at the doorway chattering away as the got in

" Excuse me can I help you"? I asked clutching my hands together

" Who are you? The man in a black jacket asked harshly

" Heey Marco that's not the way to speak to a lady! The other one chimmed in

" Am sorry are you two Antonio's friends"!

" Yes we are and you who are you? The supposedly named Marco barks

" My name is Maryjane, am Antonio's chef! I say as the other one laughed and moved closer to me suprised by his reaction I instantly moved back

" He's chef! And when have you started being he's chef" he moved closer

Two weeks now" I said

" Mmh well am Valerio and the grumpy one right there is Marco! He kindly said before he stretched his hand out for me to shake

" Nice to meet you" I said as I shaked his hand he rose my palm and planted a soft kiss on my fingers while he stared back at me with a smirk on his face

" Nice to meet you Maryjane"!

" Valerio! I turned abruptly to find Antonio standing on the stairway with a frown on his face I watched as his eyes were fixed on my hand that was still held by Valerio. I quickly removed my hand and placed them both behind me

" Capo! Good morning! Valerio rumbled as Marco chuckled  behind him

" Let's talk in my office! He ordered the two men. I watched as they both went upstairs soon after Antonio turned to me

" Your late today! He started off

" Yes, am sorry i-

" Don't let it happen again! Fix something for us will be down to eat soon! He barked and went back upstairs.

I stood there stunned by his harsh manner and walked back to the kitchen to get my work done.

After I was done setting the table I heard them coming down they looked in hurry

" Breakfast's ready! I smile at him

" Oh! Uh thanks but I got an emergency"

Oh! Okay is everything alright!

" Yes! Don't worry, come on let's go" he ordered

I watched as the walked out the room right before Valerio winked at me.

" Oh did Antonio leave already? Mrs Tan came in from the back

" Yea he was in a hurry with these two other guys"!

" Oh Mr Marco and Valerio!

" Yes, you know them?

" There Mr Antonio's closest friends!

" Oh! I didn't know- my phone buzzed to interrupt me.

" Hello! I picked up

" Hello is this Maryjane Johnson?

" Yes this her! Why, Who are you?

" I need you to come to the hospital right now! Your mother is in critical condition

" What! I felt my hurt breaking into pieces.

" St Anne hospital please come here

" Alright! I'll be there I told her with a shaky voice

" What's wrong dear!

" I have to go Mrs Tan my mom is in the hospital

" What!? What happened?

" I don't know I have to go"

Immediately grabbed my bag and ran out tears filled my eyes, my heart racing my body shivering as I got in the cab

" St Anne hospital please!

" Alright! He answered as he drove off.
