Chapter Fourteen

Maryjane's POV

I paced back and fourth in the waiting area for the doctor to show up and give me any news concerning my mother.

" Maryjane Johnson! I turned to find to police officers

" Yes that's me! I answered with a shaky voice

" I need to ask you some questions! He stated briefly right before he removed his pen and pad

" Okay.. what is this about?

" Your mother's accident, you see we got a call from the neighbor house she claimed she heard screams of help coming from your mother's house!

" What! I gasped, i....I just got here I don't even know what happened to my mom "

" Miss Johnson where were you today"!

" At work I got a call for the hospital "

" Well it seems that your  mother was having a heated with someone inside the house, according to the neighbor she kept hearing calls of help that's when she called us but unfortunately by the time we reached her house we found her on the floor with blood and the house was wrecked!

My mouth was dry I couldn't speak , tears that I didn't know I held back rolled down my cheeks.

" Are you related to Monica Johnson? I turned to find the doctor

" Yes am his daughter! Hows my mom, I want to see hear

" Am afraid I can't let you in she's still in a critical condition. You see your mother hit her head and now suffers from a Hematoma "!

" What is that!?

" A collection or clotting of blood outside the blood vessels, it can be very serious especially if it occurs in the brain which leads to pressure building up inside the patient skull"

" Well has it! My voice cracked nervous to hear the answer

" Currently we are still observing her we still don't know if its that serious, so we'll keep her in the ICU for some time for further observations you'll be allowed to see her tomorrow"!

" Okay-

" Maryjane is everything ok" I turned to find the Antonio standing behind me with a worried look in his face

" Antonio what are you doing here !?

" Mrs Tan informed me about what happened, how's your mother? He asked desperately as he moved and stood close me

" Well I'll inform you if anything comes up Miss Johnson, if you' ll excuse me" the doctor left only to be replaced back again with the police

" Miss Johnson do you have any idea of anyone capable of attacking your mother"?

I... I think maybe he's boyfriend! He's name Roy Tucker"

" Has he ever been violent with your mother before"? He went on I turned to look at Antonio who had a frown on his face

" No...they fought alot but I have never seen him hurt her physically...well-

" Well... Tell us Miss Johnson if he's behind it we can charge him with domestic violence!

" He choked me once"! That's when I left " I could feel Antonio shifting beside me as his brows were knot together

" What do mean when you left, your telling me you left your mother alone with an abusive man to live with her! He accused

" I... I had no choice...I-  my voice shaking as tears rolling down

" Okay that's enough officer, why don't you go find the man who did this and leave her alone" Antonio stepped in as he towered over the short officer

" But am just doing my job-

Your job is finding the bastard who did this not judging her life choices! Now get to work before I have you fired"! His deep voice growled I saw how the officer's face grew pale

" No need for such hasty decision sir! I'll do my best to find him Miss Johnson, excuse me! He left

I sighed as I rubbed my hands on my face , my head was aching I felt so tired. I stared at the ground and it looked like I was spinning

" Maryjane are you okay"? I heard his concern deep voice call right before I reached my hand to his as darkness overwhelmed me.
