"I stared at Remus. He stared straight back at me, with a questioning look.
"I-I can explain," I said, raising my hands, trying to calm him down. Remus raised an eyebrow, something he had mastered after days of practicing. "You see, I-um... I-uh... I invited Ariel out on a date, completely forgetting that your reservation was here."
"Oh really? You 'completely forget' that you had booked the restaurant for me?" Remus asks. Tonks came up beside him, giving me a questioning look.
"Look, I'm sorry. I just wanted to see how you two were getting on, I'm sorry for ruining your evening," I said quickly before apparating out of the place and back home again.
Home. I hadn't called Grimauld Place that since... well, ever.
"Ariel?" I called out. My voice echoed through the halls of the giant house but no reply came. I went into the kitchen and looked around but she wasn't in there. I ddi the same in the sitting room. Not there. I went up the stairs and searched in every room but she didn't seem to be anywhere.
Where could she have gone? She doesn' really have anywhere to go. Unless...
Grabbing my coat again, I apparated out of my house and I found myself outside of the giant red house. It was bigger than every house on the street but only to people who were welcomed inside the house.
Phoenix mansion.
Phoenix mansion was only built a couple of years ago by Benny, Ariel's little brother. I had been in here the year it was built, the year Benny had finished Hogwarts. After Benny had finished Hogwarts seemed to be around when everything in my life went wrong.
Ariel's parents had both passed away when I was in Azkaban so I knew she couldn't possibly be with them. But Benny was always one of her favourite people, there was a chance she could be in here.
I knocked on the door of the house, hitting the giant knocker against it twice. It was no secret that Benny had became incredibly rich after Hogwarts. He had taken the right career choice to get him a lot of money. He was one of the best healers in St. Mungo's and often travelled abroad to help patients in other countries.
He had been the healer waiting at the side during the Triwizard tournament in case anything went seriously wrong, so wrong that even Madam Pomfery could not help the person.
The door was opened with a loud creek and I looked to see probably the happiest man I had ever seen since I got out of Azkaban. And I had seen Albus Dumbledore unwrap a pair of fluffy socks, let me tell you that.
Benny never had been too dull of a person but looking at him now, I could see he was doing everything he had ever wanted to do and more. He caught a little boy who was running around and pulled him up to his chest, gently nursing him and giving him a tickle.
"Careful there, rascal," Benny laughed, once again tickling the child. The little boy laughed, his eyes gleaming just like his Aunt's did when they were happy.
"Sorry, daddy. I wanted to see who was at the door," the little boy mumbled innocently, twiddling his thumbs. They both looked back at me as though they just remembered I was still standing here which as probably true. "Who's the man, daddy?"
"Sirius Black! What can I do for you?" Benny asked with a cheery smile on his face. I couldn't see how he did this. The little boy I had once seen, distraught at the death of Jordan, bawling his eyes out as his sister grasped his hand, had disappeared. And here was a man who looked so delighted with everything that it almost seemed impossible.
"Is your sister around? I'm looking for her," I said, looking at the little kid. Benny's face dropped. And then I saw it. I saw the little boy again, distraught at his childhood crush's death.
