"Yeah." You said. "Wow... that explains this morning then?" Steve said. "Yeah... I guess it does." You said. "So how did you get your powers?" Clint asked. "I have no idea. But the whole punching bag incidence that happened today have something to do with it." You said. "Well, I guess we're all going to have to get used to having another team member with powers, but it's not like we've never done it before." Tony said. "Right, and we all support you. So you don't need to feel ashamed at all ever." Nat smiled."And I'll even run some tests if you want me to." Bruce spoke up. "Thanks guys." You smiled. "So how many people with powers do we have? Let's see... Capsicle, The Manchurian candidate, point break, reindeer games, Wanda.. I'll come up with a name later, nerd bomber, the kid, and now Y/n." He said. "Well at least I'm not alone." You laughed.
"Right. And you won't ever be alone, so you should only feel proud of the power you've attained." Wanda said. "You're like Azula now. Minus the insanity." Peter said. "See? He gets it." You said. Loki smirked.
You sat on the roof of the compound one evening, reading a book. The sun was about to set, when Loki came out, blood boiling. "Something got your panties in a twist?" You smirked. "I'm fine." He said. "Are you trying to lie to me?" You laughed, and stood up.
"What's the point? You already know I'm upset." He turned and leaned over the edge of the building. "What happened?" You laid your hand on his back, he jumped, and you lifted it. "Sorry..." you said. "It's alright. Tony just pissed me off is all." He said, eyebrows furrowing.
"Well, maybe you should let the sunset get your mind off the fact you're mad." You said, walking over to grab your tea. You walked back over to him and smiled. "I guess you're right." He said. "Aren't I always?" You flipped your hair dramatically. "Mmm." He said.
"Hey. For real. Tony is an ass, everybody knows that. I'm surprised you're letting it get to you this much. What'd he say?" You asked, re warming your tea with your powers. "He called you a freak." Loki said, staring off into the distance.
Your heart lurched when you realised he was mad for you. "Loki... I'm sure he didn't mean it." You said, rubbing his back. "And I know you're probably right, but I can't help feeling upset and angry." He looked over at you. You took a sip of your tea.
"I can handle Tony. You don't have to be mad for me." You smiled. Loki stood and faced you. "But that's just it. Everyone knows you have a shorter temper than the hulk himself, but whenever something that should set you off doesn't set you off... it makes me mad instead." He said. "That's like... secondhand anger..." you said, setting your tea down.
"Something that I've learned here, is that I can't let the small things anger me. Even if they do, I've taught myself to not lash out. Self control. But on the bright side," you rested your hand on his arm. "You did the right thing by walking away. I'm proud of you." You smiled. Loki looked at you for a moment, then turned back to face the sunset. You looked away and leaned over the edge next to him.
"I have something to tell you." Loki said. You looked over at him. "I really envy you." He said. "You envy me?" You said, eyebrows furrowing. "I do. You have so much control over how you feel, you know how to stay calm in the toughest of situations. Situations that I would lose all control." He said. "Watch." You said, walking over to the middle of the roof.
You took a deep breath and held your hand out. A flame appeared above it. You looked up at Loki, who watched you intently. "Control. I draw my power from the feelings that lead my everyday life. Contentment, anxiety, happiness, fear, and I am able to control my power the way I want." You pushed your hand out, and a streak of fire flew across the roof.
"But," you took a deep breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth. "When I let anger take over," you glanced over at him, seeing he was still watching you closely. "You might want to stand back frost boy." You smirked.
"When the anger takes over..." the flame in your hand grew twice the size. You took a deep breath, and the flame disappeared. For a split second everything was silent, calm. Then with all the power you could muster, you let it all loose.
The fire left your body in bright blue flames. The anger surged through your body, and it took you everything to stop, and calm down.
You breathed in and opened your eyes, the fire ceasing. "My power becomes unstoppable." You said. "You have much to learn." Loki said. "But you've come very far." He said. "What could you teach me?" You smirked. "Your power when angry is quite stoppable actually." He said. "Did you not see what I just did?" You said.
"I did, and it was in fact very very powerful." He walked over to you. "But there are things that trump anger." "Like mischief?" You put your hands on your hips. "Or lies?" You said as he got closer. "How about hatred? No I don't think I hate any-" "Love." He said.
"L-love?" You looked up at him. "Mhm.." he lifted his hand, and a ball of light appeared above it. "If I let my anger and hatred take hold of me, and use it to guide my magic..." the ball of light grew, but only slightly. "See? Look at how it grew! Unstoppable." You smiled widely.
"But when I let love through..." he closed his eyes. You looked over at his hand, and saw the light grow even more. You watched his facial features, a soft blush creeping across his cheeks. You held your own hand out, and tried the same approach. You watched the flame, thinking about all the things you loved. Clint, Natasha, your friends, coffee, movies... all the comforts of your life. The flame grew, and you looked up. Loki was watching you, and he smirked.
You both looked down at the power you harnessed, and slowly brought your hands together. When the fire touched the magic, the two of you saw a big Phoenix rise above you. It beat its large wings a few times, before vanishing. You looked down at yours and Loki's connected hands, and then back at him.
"See?" He said. Loki grabbed your other hand. "Love, despite what most think, is where our greatest source of power lies. Even when we act upon anger... or mischief," he smirked. "Love is what lies far beneath that. Do you understand?" He said.
You intertwined your fingers with his. "I do." You smiled. He glanced down at your lips, and then back up to your eyes. "Loki?" You whispered. "Y/n..." he brought his hands up to the back of your head. You closed the distance between the two of you, standing on the tip of your toes, and pressed your lips to his.
Your eyes opened, and you took a step back, pressing your hand up to your lips. You looked up at Loki. He'd crossed his arms, and was smirking down at you. You held back a laugh, but after a moment it slipped. "We just kissed." You smiled.
"We did." He said. "Mmm." You looked away. "What did you learn?" He asked. "My power isn't something to be trifled with." You smirked. "And?" He said. "Well you apparently already know so why should I have to say it?" You crossed your arms in defiance. "Because I want to hear you say it." He said.
"I learned, that I still have a lot left to learn about my power. I also know that it's going to be tough to not draw my power from the anger I feel," you looked him in the eyes. "But from the love that I can only hope to get in return someday." You smiled.
"Very good." He smirked. "Let's go inside?" He smiled. "Okay." You grabbed your tea, and your book, and left.
Hey! I'm bored so I'm gonna update a little early this week! Hope you liked this chapter. 😉 happy holidays!
