You woke up early that morning, not anticipating the upcoming mission later that day. It was only 6 am, but you were wide awake. You sat up and opened your phone, checking social media to see if any of your favorite celebrities had posted. (Because I'm sure you all do that anyway)

Sadly, none of them had. Your days always seemed to be worse when the celebrities didn't update the world on their everyday lives, and you knew it was an awful habit to have, but you still did it nonetheless.

Reluctantly you got up, and walked over to your closet to change. You figured you could get some last minute training in before you left for the mission.

You put on your favorite sports bra, a pair of leggings, and some tennis shoes and headed over to the gym.

You decided that running would make you too worn out for the mission, so you chose what always helped you blow off steam; whether it be because you were upset, or because you had lots of energy: boxing.

You wrapped your hands, paying extra close attention to your left hand, you'd hurt it about two weeks prior while you were training with Clint and Nat. Bruce had said to be careful with it to prevent a stress fracture, but you were almost completely certain you were fine by now.

You asked Jarvis to play some hard rock music to get you in the mood to beat the crap out of a heavy bag. You pounded into the bag, your stamina not faltering in the slightest.

Ten minutes, twenty, forty, an hour, two, still nothing. You were hardly even sweating at all. Panic finally set in when you realized you may be dehydrated. You chugged a bunch of water in hopes that the sweat would finally pour, but after waiting a few moments, nothing happened.

You looked down at the tape on your hands and saw that it was almost completely worn through, and you saw that your knuckles weren't damaged at all. You hadn't even felt it.

Slightly panicked, you decided that would be enough for one morning, so you grabbed your water and left to go take a shower. You walked past the labs where you saw Bruce and tony sitting at one of the tables working.

"Mornin boys." You smiled and waved. "Since when are you up this early?" Tony asked, not looking up from his work. "I don't know," you shrugged. "I couldn't sleep." You said. "Welcome to the club." Bruce smirked. You laughed.

You made your way back over to your bedroom and hopped in the shower before putting on your suit and heading up to the flight deck.

"Good morning everybody!" You said a bit too cheerily. "What the hell is wrong with you." Rhodes said. "Damn okay." You put your hands up. "I'm just in a good mood." You smiled.

"Hey guys." Nat smiled as she walked up to the quinjet. "So does anybody know what we're doing?" You asked. "Ah I don't know, some guy who worked for hydra got shot a couple days ago." "Is that a bad thing?" You said. "It is when you don't know who's responsible. Fury said nobody from Shield shot him, so we're going to investigate." Nat said.

"Is everybody here?" Steve came out of the back of the jet. "Missing Loki." You said. "Aw you're missing me?" You turned around, blushing. "I wouldn't miss you." You said. "What happened to the good mood?" Rhodey said. "Someone ruined it." You smiled.

The four of you boarded the jet and began formatting the plan of attack. "So me, Rhodes and Nat will go to the east side of the house, you and Loki will stay on the west side by the window." Steve said. "Works for me." You said.

"If we need backup, we'll call you. In the meantime stay on your toes, watch for anybody that looks suspicious." Steve said.

"Wouldn't we look suspicious?" Rhodey said. "Well Tony gave you a nanotech suit right? So why don't you just go in that so you won't look suspicious." Steve said. "Right."

"So I bet that means no armor for mister stabby britches here." "Watch it Y/n." Loki said. "Oh come on you wouldn't." "Oh come on, I would." Loki said.

"Hey Steve, can I talk to you for a minute?" You asked. "Sure what's up?" You pulled him up to the front of the jet to the pilot seats.

"You know how I was working out this morning right?" You said. "Uh huh." "Well I was boxing, right. And I guess I got carried away because I looked down at the time and saw I'd been doing it for 2 hours." "That's a long time." He said.

"Yeah I know but it gets weirder. I looked down at my hands and saw the tape had almost completely worn through." You said. "But look." You held your hands out to him. "How are they-" "I don't know." You sighed. "And you know what else? I hadn't even broken a sweat doing it." You said. "You're not dehydrated are you?" Steve said.

"No no, I feel fine. I drank a whole water bottle and i checked to see if I had any symptoms of dehydration, and I didn't." You said. "That is the strangest thing... I can talk to tony or Bruce to see if either of them know anything." He said. "Oh no, it's fine I can talk to them myself. I just needed to tell somebody in case they knew." You smiled.

"Alright well, go get ready, we're about to land." Steve said. You walked back over to your seat. "Is everything alright?" You turned and saw Loki staring at you. "Oh. Yeah I'm peachy." You smiled.

The quinjet made its way out of the sky, and down to the ground below. You silently landed in the backyard of the house you were going to, using the camouflage to disguise the ship.

You and Loki made your way back over to the west side window. You held your arm out to make sure he wouldn't make any rookie mistakes. You peered in the window and saw that the house was still full of furniture, like the man inside still lived there. You even listened for a moment and heard the TV was playing.

"The TV is on." You whispered. "What?" Loki said. "Listen." You pointed to the window. You put your hand up to your ear. "Guys the TV inside the house is still on. This could be a trap." You said. You rested your hand on your gun, in case it was a trap. But so far the mission was purely to investigate around the house for evidence of who shot him.

You heard feet hit the ground behind you. You spun around and pulled your gun on whoever it was. "Oh my god." You muttered. There was a man standing about seven feet from you and Loki, with a big long scar running the length of his body. "Who're you?" You said.

He didn't say anything. "Don't try anything." You said. "I won't hesitate to shoot." You said.  The man chuckled. "It was you!" Loki said. "How'd you figure that out?" The man said. "I can see into people's minds. Read their thoughts, memories." He said.

"Why'd you shoot him?" You asked. You heard more footsteps coming behind you, but Loki rested a hand on your back, trying to signify that it was Steve Rhodey and Nat. "Well if it isn't captain America. Long time no see, partner." He said. "Why'd you shoot." You asked again. "It wasn't because he worked for Hydra. I had a personal matter. That and the boss wanted me to." He said.

"Who do you work for?" Rhodey asked. "Hey hey I thought she was the one askin questions." He said. "Just answer the damn question will you?" "Ah... I don't think so. As for you guys, I think it's time we head out. Don't you think?" He pulled out a bomb, and set it off. "NO!" You shouted. You threw your hands out purely on reflex, your eyes clamped shut.

You expected an explosion any second, but it never came. "LOKI DO SOMETHING!" Steve shouted. You opened your eyes slowly, and saw Loki struggling to contain the explosion with his magic.

"LOKI!" You shouted. He looked at you for a moment, then the man flew into the air, and Loki let go. If Loki hadn't been there, you'd all be dead. "Oh my god." You said. "Are you okay?" You looked at him. "I'm fine." He said. "Well now what." You said. "Well the guy is dead. We hardly got any information out of him, so I guess we just go back to the compound and see what we can find on the guy."

You laced your fingers behind your neck, and sighed. "You okay?" Natasha asked you. "Huh? Oh yeah I'm okay. That was just a lot." You smiled.

The five of you made your way back to the compound, not looking forward to the night of searching for any information on the man from the mission.

You walked over to your room to change out of your suit. You opened the door, and walked inside. The last thing you heard was your keys hitting the floor as your mind was thrown into complete pitch black darkness.
