"Statement of Mumbo Jumbo, assistant archivist in the Magnus Institute filling his week long disappearance." A very British voice plays over the old tape recorder. But he wasn't here to know who these people were, he was here for answers."T-thank you Xisuma, I know you don't necessarily believe any of the statements but this is important." A more nervous voice answers the first, Mumbo and Xisuma. They sounded familiar.
"Please just tell us what happened, you can stop whenever but please explain what happened." Xisuma carefully guided his colleague but he smiled, obviously friends.
"Right well, I as you know have not been in work for a little over a week.. AND for good reason m-mind it but. Oh god where do I begin? I guess at the start." A few seconds silence fell, but the never ceasing noise of the tape recorder continues.
"I was going home after a days work as I usually do but something felt, off? As soon as I left the building I knew something wasn't r-right but I shoved it aside, y'know, where we work nothing ever really feels 'right' but...
This was a different sort of wrong. As if everyone was looking at me! But no one was, actually as I got closer to my house there wasn't, well, anyone. It was as if no one lived in the area. And mind you this was highly strange considering, as you know well, I live in a very residential area and this was the time everyone was coming home from work.
No lights in windows, all houses doors were just open and-" Mumbai voice was rising as he spoke and he wondered if maybe Xisuma had stopped him when he suddenly stopped talking.
"-and no one was there, I didn't notice at first but the sky looked like a mix between, well I can't put it into words exactly but like night, day, sunset and sunrise all at once. And I know that sounds impossible but please listen it looked exactly like it was everything and nothing at once.
I continued to my house hoping if I got home and just phoned you or Grian or Cleo then maybe one of you could help. But for some reason when I got to my house there was a women there. I didn't know who she was but I remember her so so clearly." Mumbo took a shaky breathe and the continued.
"She has unnaturally long hair that I think was black but it was so tangled and so unkept that it was hard to tell anything, wearing a large coat that seemed to hang off her like a second skin. I remember seeing her hollow eyes staring back at me as I stopped at the gate. Her face was skeletal as in she shouldn't be able to stand I could see everyone bone visible through her skin like it was wet paper.
Then without looking away she dropped the coat and I swear I will never forget what I saw. It was hor-"
The recording cut of suddenly when smoke arose form the tape recorder. He shot up and grabbed the thing but dropped it. Way to hot to touch, like touching hot coals. Maybe Jevin or Wels could grab it. It was way to hot even for him to touch.
"Tango where are you?" Impulse called from a few shelves down and appeared around the corner. Tango smiled and pointed at the tape recorder wordlessly and smiled cheekily.
"Oh well that's a bummer. I was really hoping we could find a way to help that lady back at the safe house but." Impulse sighed deeply and Tango smiled sympathetically.
"Pretty sure any of those four would of killed us for bringing this back to base." Tango supplied happily. Impulses shoulders dropped a bit and he tried to smile.
This past year had been hard on everyone but Tango didn't want to add to anyone's stress unnecessarily. (666)
So bringing back this wouldn't be a good idea anyway. They both knew this.
"We should head back, before something finds us."
The Magnus Archives AU? More likely then you think.
I cut of the recording because body horror is hard to wring. Takes massive inspiration for Colony ngl.
Anyone else like TMA?
