"I'm gonna call you Bear."
Mattia woke up to a sore body. He groaned softly and turned to Alejandro who had a smile on his face. "Oh fuck off." The tall boy said before attempting to loosen the older's grip on him. "Mm.. no." Now hold still!" Mattia flopped himself back down onto the bed and sighed. "Alejandro today is my birthday.. we can't just lay around all day."
"Sure we can. If you would just cooperate." Mattia grabbed the shorter boy's wrists and slipped out of his grip. The shorter boy whined as he watched the younger boy pick out clothes. "Alejandro. Get your ass up and find something to wear." The older boy kicked at the bed childishly before getting off of the bed.
"Just.. pick whatever you want." The tall boy grabbed a pair of black socks, black sweats, and a lime green hoodie. Mattia walked into the bathroom and fixed his hair. When he came back out Alejandro was dressed in a pair of Mattia's lime green sweats and a black hoodie. "To match you!" The older boy said excitedly before running upstairs.
Mattia giggled softly before running up the stairs after the boy, having a small limp as he ran and almost tripping on each step. He got to the top of the steps only to see that all of his friends were in the living room. His friends were glaring at Alejandro, who felt a bit uncomfortable at the intense stare he received. Mattia walked up behind Alejandro and rested a hand on the shorter's back.
"Guys, what did I say about Alejandro? I'm allowed to have other friends. I don't just need you guys." He rubbed the older boy's back and Alvaro rolled his eyes. "Whatever, happy birthday man." Kairi said, getting up and walking over to the tall boy. Mattia took his hands off of Alejandro and hugged the small boy.
The other three boys shared a glance before their gaze turned back to the two boys who were still in each other's embrace. The two boys finally pulled away from each other and Kairi gave Mattia a small pat on the back. "Alright you boys, it's lunch time." Mattia's mother said from the kitchen.
All the boys walked to the dining room, Mattia not expecting what was to come next. His father jumped out from behind the doorway, directly in front of Mattia. Mattia was caught off guard and jumped. He felt his hair brush the ceiling before he fell back down, landing directly on his behind.
The tall boy groaned and whines softly, looking up at his father and friends who were laughing hysterically. Alejandro wasn't laughing, though. He was just watching. The costa rican walked over to Mattia and reached out a hand. The younger boy took the hand into his own and Alejandro pulled him up.
"For the record, that was not funny." Mattia mumbled as he rubbed at his tail bone. The older boy stuck out his bottom lip and Mattia smiled softly. The two boys sat beside each other at the table. Mattia already knew what they were having, his favorite. He could just smell it. Sure enough, Mattia's mom came out with a pan of lasagna.
Mattia sat up, wincing. He watched his mother cut it and put a piece onto everyone's plate. As soon as Mattia received his piece he started eating it. They only had things like this on special occasions so when they did he would always take advantage of it. Within fifteen minutes everyone was done eating.
"Cake or presents first, Mattia?" The tall boys father asked, getting up from his seat. "Hm.. let's do cake first." Mattia's father nodded before walking into the kitchen. He came back with a brownie cake, chocolate ice cream layering the top. Mattia's favorite type of cake as well.
This was one of the best days of Mattia's life. Until he remembered what he would have to do tonight. His smile faded and he looked around the room. He was snapped from his thoughts when he heard his father calling his name. "Oh, yeah sorry." Mattia looked at the cake that now had eighteen lit candles on the top.
"We aren't gonna sing to you.. because.. well that's just childish and you're an adult now. So just make your wish and blow them out." Mattia's mother said, smiling. Mattia closed his eyes and thought of a wish. After he had it he blew out the candles. He opened his eyes and sighed softly, watching the cake being taken away to be cut.
The older boy who was sitting beside him rubbed his back. "Is everything okay, Matti?" Mattia turned to his boyfriend and smiled. "Yeah, i'm fine." The shorter boy nodded and took his hands off of him. His father came back, the cake now cut. Everyone was given a slice and just like the lasagna they were done eating within fifteen minutes.
Mattia's mother jumped up and down excitedly. "Okay, now the present!" Mattia furrowed his eyebrows and watched as a large box was being brought into the room by his father. His father seemed to struggle as he put the box on the table. Small whines could be heard from in the box and Mattia's face lit up.
"No way.. no fucking way. Can I open it?" Mattia turned to his mother who was smiling. She nodded and Mattia turned back around quickly. He took the top of the box off. He almost bursted out of excitement. A small shepsky puppy was at the bottom of the box. Mattia picked the small thing up gently before pulling it to his chest, stroking it softly. He felt like crying.
"Hi there little guy.." Mattia said in a soft voice, giggling when he received a lick on the nose. "It's a boy." Mattia's father said, watching his son admire the small thing. "Do I get to name him?.." Mattia asked, looking between his parents. "Of course you do." Mattia's mother said.
Mattia raised the small puppy into the air, admiring its two different colored eyes. One brown eye and one ice blue eye. The small puppy had a black back that faded into a brown on the sides. The brown faded to grey which eventually led to a white underbelly.
"I'm gonna call you Bear."
