Chapter Two

Leo's P.O.V

"Wake up Leo," Tristan says pulling apart my curtains. The sun shines in my face so I pull the covers over my head. "You can't sleep all day," he adds while pulling my covers down. 

"I can try," I tell him. When he reminds me that I'll be late for breakfast I finally sit up. He goes over to my cabinet and gets my clothes, a white shirt, brown pants, brown boots and my sword belt. 

After I finish getting dressed I walk outside of my chambers where Tristan is waiting for me. We walk down the corridor and make our way to the dining hall. When we arrive I take my usual seat across from my brother and mother. Tristan stands off to the side until my father, who is sitting at the head of the table, gestures for the servants to serve us. My eyes follow Tristan while he moves around the table as he helps serve the food. He's beautiful. I could get lost in his kind, vibrant blue eyes. 

"Leo?" Alex asks. I quickly look at him to see a smirk on his face. "I asked if you would allow me to accompany you on your ride tomorrow," he says. 

"Of course," I say in response and start eating. 

After breakfast, Tristan and I make our way to the training grounds. 

"Guys!" Alex calls after us. We both stop and look back to see him running up to us with Sebastian not far behind.

"Please take me with you. If I have to sit through another one of Sebastian's lectures I'll die," he says quietly. With a smile, I put a hand on his shoulder. 

"I'm gonna look after Alex today Sebastian. Perhaps you could help out my father," I say. He reluctantly agrees and walks away. 

"You're a lifesaver Leo," Alex says with a smile as we continue towards the training grounds. 

"You do realize that you are going to have to train with Leon as well now, right?" I ask and his smile disappears. 

Seeing this makes me and Tristan laugh. As we get closer to the training grounds we hear the sound of swords clashing together and the knights talking. Levi is the first to see us approaching so he nudges Leon who turns to look at us. 

"Oh! You've brought me another victim," Leon says jokingly. Alex chuckles nervously as we get closer to the group of knights. 

"Don't worry Alex. We'll be with Levi and you just might be able to see Leo get his ass kicked," Tristan says, causing them both to laugh. Levi takes Tristan and Alex further away to work on their training.

Leon always does my training separate because he trains me more intensely than others. First thing we do is work on my aiming with a crossbow. 

"Not bad but you still got some work to do," he tells me after a while. 

Next we work on my skills with a quarterstaff. 

"You're getting better," he says. 

After training with a mace he tells me that it's what I need to work on the most. No surprise there. 

Now it's time to practice with my best weapon, a sword. While sparring against Leon I actually manage to beat him more than once. With a satisfied smile he says, "

Impressive. You're better with a sword than even I. However, Alden is the one you have to beat if you want to be the best." He sheaths his sword and I do the same before looking over at Alden who is standing around. Alden is a good knight but I don't like him. Not since he hit Tristan a few years back.

"I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet," I say looking back at Leon. 

"Smart move," he says laughing. It's almost lunch time. After that I'm supposed to go work on my studies with Deacon. Writing and military strategy among other things. Tristan and Alex are supposed to come with me but they seem to be having a good time. I can just meet up with them later.
