Chapter Nine

Leo's P.O.V

"Hey Tristan?" I ask as we stand on my balcony. It's night and I know he has to go home soon. 

"Come here," I say holding out my arms. He does as I ask and walks over to me. 

"Yes?" he asks, standing next to me. Without warning I pull him him into a hug. 

"May I kiss you?" I ask him. He smiles happily. 

"Always," he tells me. I lean in and press my lips softly to his. He immediately kisses back. 

"Do you want to come with me tomorrow? I want to spend some time alone with you," I ask him when we pull apart. 

"We are alone," he informs me. 

"I meant without having to lock ourselves away," I tell him, hoping he'll say yes. 

"I'd love that. Where did you have in mind?" he asks with a smile. "I know this place in the woods. One of the few places you've never been with me. It's beautiful. We can take some food," I tell him. His smile gets bigger and he lays his head on my chest. 

"Let's do it," he says. I smile and tighten my arms around him. We stay like that for a little bit longer. 

"I should head home," he finally tells me. 

"We shall leave in the morning," I inform him and he nods. 

"Goodnight Leo," he says and kisses my cheek. "Goodnight Tristan. Don't eat tomorrow morning," I warn him. 

"Okay," he says before leaving.

The next morning I wake up before Tristan gets to my chambers. I get dressed and make my way out. As I'm leaving I bump into a young female servant. 

"I'm so sorry My Lord!" she exclaims. 

"Nonsense. That was entirely my doing," I say as I bend down to help her. 

"Thank you, My Lord," she says. 

"Please. It's Leo. Could you do me a favor? What's your name?" I ask her. 

"It's Tessa. And anything for you, My Lor- Leo," she says with a polite smile. 

"Can you gather some food for me? Enough for two people. Bring it to the stables. I'll be going out for breakfast. Keep this between us," I tell her. 

"Of course," she says and takes off. With that done I make my way to my brother's chambers. 

"Alex?" I call out as I knock on his doors. 

"Come in!" he yells. 

"Hey. Can you let mother and father know I won't be joining you guys for breakfast," I tell him. 

"How come?" he asks me. 

"I'm going to have breakfast with Tristan. We're riding out in a little bit," I inform him. 

"Oh. Well have fun. Don't do anything too serious," he tells me with a smirk. 

"Oh shut it. It's just a date," I tell him. He continues to smirk at me even as I turn to walk away. 

"See you later Alexander," I say as I leave. 

"It's Alex Leonardo!" he yells after me. I laugh at that.

I make my way back to my chambers to find Tristan waiting for me. 

"You're up early and you're dressed. I'm impressed," he says in a joking manner. 

"I can take care of myself," I say closing my door. 

"I'm not entirely convinced but if you're sure," he says laughing.
