Chapter Six

Leo's P.O.V (Timeskip 3 years)

"Leo!" Tristan shouts. I jump at the sudden noise and look at him. 

"Are you alright? You haven't touched your food and everyone else has already left," he says with worry. 

I look around at the table to see he's right. My family has already eaten and left. I tell him I'm fine just not hungry. A lie. I'm not fine. I have a bunch of stuff on my mind. My feelings for Tristan have only gotten stronger over the last three years. 

Lately I've been distancing myself from him. Tristan hasn't said anything but I'm sure he's noticed. I'm just worried about what might happen if he finds out how I feeI. I don't understand why this is bugging me so much. I shouldn't focus on what might happen. Besides it's just a crush. It's not like I'm in love with him... Right? 

"Come on. You should get some sleep," Tristan says. I nod and stand up. We reach my chambers and instead of getting ready for bed I go to my balcony to think. Do I even know what love is? Tristan asks me again if I'm alright. 

"Tristan," I start saying, "What do you think love is?" 

He doesn't respond and I assume he isn't going to so I start to walk inside. 

"I don't really know but personally I think it's when you care about someone even more than yourself," he says leaning against the balcony. He talks softly and surely but he keeps his eyes on the star filled sky.

I walk back over to the balcony. Someone you care about more than yourself... Is Tristan someone I care about more than myself? Most definitely. I wonder... 

"Do you have someone like that?" I ask him. 

He looks over at me with a smile, "Yeah. I believe I do." He does... I see... 

Why am I surprised? Tristan is not just attractive but he's also very kind-hearted. So of course he's probably met a girl and fallen in love... He takes a deep breath and walks inside with me right behind him. 

"You should get some sleep Leo," he says, fixing my bed so that I can sleep comfortably. 

"Wake me early tomorrow. I want to go out hunting," I tell him. 

"I'll try..." he says. I don't want you to go... 

"Alright. Get home and tell your mother I said hello. Night Tristan," I say and he leaves. I change and climb into my cold bed. I close my eyes but can't seem to fall asleep. I keep thinking about what Tristan told me. He told me he has someone he cares about more than himself. Someone he loves... I don't know who she is but I already hate her. 

"I wish he..." I start to say but stop myself. He'll leave me one day...   

    "Time to get up," Tristan says as he pulls off my blankets. Not wanting to get up I throw one of my pillows at him. I hear him huff in frustration which makes me smirk. That is until he walks over to the side of my bed and grabs the blanket underneath me. He pulls the blanket with all his strength and I roll off the bed. I hit the floor with a thud. He starts laughing until I stand up and give him a death glare. He throws my clothes for the day at me. 

When I finish getting dressed my bed is already made so I leave my chambers to see him waiting outside the door for me. He asks me how I slept but when I go to answer I let out a yawn. 

"Not good then?" He asks and I nod. 

"You told me to wake you early," he says as we're walking down the upper corridor. We reach the dining hall and I take my usual seat opposite of my brother and begin to eat. My mother asks if I'm alright so I tell her I didn't sleep well.
