Chapter 4

You all finally reached the top, Dustin dropped his bag and you ran ahead and lay down on the ground.

"Made it." Dustin exclaimed with a smiled.

"Yeah only took five hours." Max sighed dropping what she was carrying.

"Why couldn't we just play D&D?" Will mumbled.

"I've never been so happy to see a flat surface in my life." You said spreading your a,real out on the floor.

"I'm so thirsty." Lucas said grabbing the water from his bag, you all watched as he drank the last of all your water.

"Did you seriously just drink the rest of our water when y/n is practically dying over there?" Max said in a sarcastic tone, Lucas spit some water into the bottle and handed it to Max with a weak smile. She rolled her eyes and walked over to you, she pulled you of the ground and you all started to put together Cerebro.

Dustin emptied the duffle bag and you all emptied the bags you were carrying. As you all put together the metal rods, wires and the umbrellas without the fabric you looked at the sunset. You've always loved watching the sunset and you haven't been able to for the past few years, you stopped what you were doing and sat around to watch it. You sat above a steep hill and you lay out your legs and smiled at the painted sky, the hill wasn't the massive one you had all just climbed, it was a smaller one. Just then someone pushed you and you started rolling down the hill sideways. When you finally stopped rolling you looked up and saw Lucas stood there like he knew you were going to kill him. You stood up and brushed the grass of your shirt and shorts then glared daggers at Lucas. You held up your hand to show him the white mist.

"Oh shit." You saw him mumbled.

Then you clicked your fingers and he started rolling down the hill too, you laughed as he came down faster then you did. You saw Will running down the hill while Max and Dustin laughed from the top of it, Will grabbed your hand and help you back up.

"Are you gonna help me!" Lucas exclaimed from the bottom of the hill.

"Your a big boy do it yourself!" Max replied.

When Lucas finally got back up you all continued putting Cerebro together until it was finished, you stood up the radio tower and you all stood back to admire your work.

"Pretty impressive right?" Dustin smirked.

"Yeah." Max mumbled.

"Now you ready to meet my love?" Dustin asked going to the radio.

"Okay sure." Max replied.

"Yeah." Will added.

Dustin picked up the microphone. "Suzie this is Dustin. Do you copy? Over." He said into it. No response. "One sec. She's probably, she's still there." Dustin said to you all the returning to the radio. "Suzie, this is Dustin do you copy over." He repeated, still no answer. "I'm sure she's there, it's just.. you know maybe she's like busy or- it's around dinner time." Dustin stuttered.

"Dustin stop before I make you stick your head in a pile of dirt." You said with a tone.

Dustin continued talking into the radio and you all sighed and sat down.

It had been about and hour or more since Dustin had been trying to talk to Suzie. And she still hadn't answered. You lay your head on Will's stomach while you both looked up at the night sky.

While Dustin tried to repeat what he had been saying for the past hour and a half Max stopped him. "Dustin come on! She's not there."

"She's there all right she'll pick up." Dustin replied.

"Maybe Cerebro doesn't work?" Will suggested sitting up with you.

"Or maybe Suzie doesn't exist!" Lucas exclaimed.

"She exists!" Dustin said in a weird tone.

"She's a genius and she's hotter than Phoebe Cates? No girl is that perfect." Lucas sighed.

"It's that so?" Max said sitting up.

"I mean, you're perfect. I mean like, per- perfect in your own way." Lucas stuttered.

"Your perfect." Will whispered in your ear.

Max chuckled. "Relax I was teasing. I'm obviously perfect and Dustin's obviously lying. Come on Don Juan." She said to Lucas standing up.

"Where are you going?" Dustin asked.

"Home!" Max exclaimed.

"Well I guess it's just us Byers and y/l/n." Dustin said smiling at you and Will.

"Um its late." Will said looking at his watch.

"Yeah sorry Dustin but my parents want me to be home tonight." You added.

"Sorry." Will added. "Maybe tomorrow we can play D&D? Or something fun. Like we used to." Will asked.

"Yeah sure." Dustin said quietly.

"Welcome home." Will said awkwardly.

You walked over to Dustin and hugged him. "Welcome home." You smiled.

You turned around and took Will's hand and you both started running down the hill, both of you unaware of what you just missed.
