Betty POV:

"Hey Betts, you coming?" Sweet pea asked, poking his head round the door.

"Mmm-hmm jush un shecot," i said.

"What?" Sweet Pea shook his head as if to shake out the stupid. I sighed. If only it worked that way.

I took the house keys out of my mouth.

"Coming," I said, grabbing my serpents jacket into my pocket and slipping my butterfly knife into my pocket.

My Father had gotten that knife custom made for me on my thirteenth birthday. He said it was time I learned how to protect myself.

I took it out of my pocket and swivelled it between my fingers, complete control.

It had two blades that folded into one, and a snake wrapped around the silver hilt, with two piercing emerald eyes.

I must have been daydreaming because Sweet Pea started revving his engine on his bike to get my attention.

I jumped up and ran to my bike, before racing Sweet Pea to the Wyrm.

***

We pulled up and got off the bikes walking into the Wyrm.

"Hey there Butterfly," A few serpents greeted me.

That was my nickname, referring to my famed knife which never left my pocket.

"Betty!" FP called.

"Hey dad," I responded, sitting down at the bar.

"Hey girl, what can I get you?" My best friend Toni asked.

"Surprise me," I responded. She laughed.

"Hey Betts, can I borrow you?" My dad asked.

"Sure," I responded, getting up.

I looked at Toni, about to tell her something when she cut me off.

"Don't worry, I'll save you that drink." She knows me so well.

I walked with my dad into a spare room. He was king of the serpents, and I was heir. These kinds of chats were not all that rare.

"So, what's the news," I asked as he shut the door.

"We have some new serpents coming in. Toledo Serpents." I raised an eyebrow. "These are a few old friends of mine, so don't get on anyone's bad side," he asked, knowing it was a favourers hobby of mine.

"Fine, I'll try," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Betty..." he said sternly.

"Okay fine," I responded, letting out a sigh. I paused.

"When are they coming?" I asked.

"Sometime later today," he replied.

"Gee thanks for the early warning," I muttered under my breath.

"What was that?" He asked, eyebrows raised.

"I- er- promise I won't be appalling?" I said hopefully. At least it rhymed.

He sighed.

"What am I going to do with you," he chuckled to himself.

I left the room laughing.

"Toni, what about that drink," I shouted, sitting down.

"You got it butterfly."
