"Well, as you know, my name is Kang Hyeri. I'm 17 years old. I'm a normal girl, there isn't anything special about me at all," she said. Truth be told, she just wanted to avoid the topic about her parents. She hadn't talked about their death since it happened, so she was unsure how to approach the topic.
Jimin looked like he got it. He smiled a little. "Of course there is something special about you. Everyone is special in their own way, because we're all filled with stories. I guess I'll just ask questions, and you can reply, I think that might work better," he remarked thoughtfully.
"But first, let's clean up," Hyeri replied, grabbing her plate and standing up.
After they were done putting away and cleaning their dishes, Hyeri and Jimin once again took their seats at the table. Hyeri gestured at Jimin, signaling for him to ask his first question.
"What's your favorite color, movie, book, and season?" he asked, counting them off on his fingers.
Hyeri smiled a little. "My favorite color is mauve, favorite movie's 'Train To Busan,' favorite season is winter. Favorite book is kinda difficult, but maybe 'Eleanor and Park' by Rainbow Rowell," she replied.
"Oh wow, good choices! Next question: what are some things you like to do in your spare time?" he said, eyes brightening as he nodded.
"I like reading, listening to music, and sleeping," she replied, knowing that it sounded lazy, but not really caring.
Jimin's eyes disappeared as he laughed."You sound so much like Yoongi-hyung right now"
She was glad she made him laugh, and Yoongi-ssi sounded like a cool person to be compared to.
Once he stopped laughing, he asked his next question. "What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?"
"Actually, I kinda embarrass myself all the time, so I can't really pinpoint one time," Hyeri said, thoughtfully. "Actually, maybe I can. I was in sixth grade, and my friends and I were sitting at our lunch table. Then, my crush's friend slid his milk carton towards the end of the table. That was pretty close to the trash can, for context. I was sitting near that area, so I thought 'I can just throw it away for him.' So I did. He then came over, looking extremely confused. He told me he actually wanted to drink his milk, that he was just hoping someone would pass it back, since his friend slid it over to to the other end of the table. I apologized, of course, but that was just so mortifying, I couldn't talk to him for a week after that, " she finished, cringing.
Jimin shook with laughter, and it took him a solid minute to calm down.
"Wow, Hyeri, way to go! That's how you get the guy, you throw away his food!" he replied, giving her a pat on the back and shaking his head.
Hyeri smiled a little.
"Okay, moving on. If you met God/god/gods, and you could ask any one question and have it be answered correctly, what would you ask?" he asked her once he was done laughing.
Hyeri had to think about that one. After a minute, she began answering.
"I guess, I would ask, why are we on this planet? Is there a reason that everyone is born, is there an end for us? Or will we all be gone someday, having accomplished nothing?" she answered, speaking quietly.
He thought for a minute, and then he smiled.
"That's a quality answer. My next question for you is, what is your biggest fear?" Jimin asked her, brushing his hair with his hands.
Again, this was a question that required Hyeri to think. After a few minutes, she spoke, and Jimin stopped fidgeting with his sweater as she began.
"My biggest fear is being forgotten. When I die, I don't want to be forgotten, and everything I've done in my lifetime be reduced to dust. I want people to remember me, I want to have done something that lasts even after I die. I'm afraid that, after I die, I will have done nothing to better this world, and everything I have done will mean nothing." Hyeri said, looking up from her lap.
Jimin was nodding, and he seemed stunned. She noticed a loose thread in his grey sweater while he processed her answer.
"Wow, that was really deep. I was just expecting you to say heights or something," he replied, still awed by her reply.
Hyeri grinned at him, and they continued talking for some more time.
"Hold on, Jimin. Look at the time! Its already 3 o'clock! I gotta go finish my homework, and I think, then we can have dinner, and watch a movie. But we have to get to bed around ten, I have school tomorrow," Hyeri exclaimed.
"About that. I was wondering... could I come to school with you?" he asked hesitantly. He looked everywhere but her eyes. "I can make people think I'm someone who belongs there, since that's one of my powers. Its just, its been so long since I went to school, and was in company of other kids near my age, so I really want to go to school with you," he finished, looking at her pleadingly.
Hyeri thought for a minute. She did like being around him, and his argument seemed reasonable.
"Okay, you can come, too. Why not, right?" she replied, standing up. Jimin stood up excitedly and gave her a quick hug.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" he said, pulling away.
She gave him thumbs up in response.
He walked over to the couch, and picked up the book he was reading earlier.
"Let me know when you want me to start dinner," he yelled to her as she went inside her room.
After studying until five thirty, Hyeri stopped and went outside of her room. She found Jimin engrossed within his book, and took the opportunity to scare him. She silently walked up to him, and grabbed his shoulders.
"Boo!" she yelled, startling him and laughing.
He froze up and then looked at her, releasing a breath and laughing.
"I think you can start dinner while I look for a movie," Hyeri told Jimin, once they'd both stopped laughing.
He nodded and went into the kitchen, and Hyeri heard him drop a pot a minute later.
"I thought Namjoon-ssi was supposed to be the destructive one!" she yelled towards the kitchen, and he actually came out for a moment to throw a pillow at her.
She laughed and turned the TV on to search for a movie.
They ended up watching "Knives Out" and eating fettuccine pasta for dinner. By the time Hyeri was drifting off to sleep, she could say that she was the most contended she'd been in a while.
A/n:
Hi everyone! I finally updated, I know it's been a while, but finally! I've been wanting to write this chapter for a while, and I just got the chance this weekend. School started for us, and we had more work earlier than I expected, but here it is! How's everyone doing? What did you guys think? Did you like this chapter? Tell me in the comments! I'd also love to hear your guys' answers to some of the questions that Jimin asked Hyeri. Most of the stuff she replied was true answers I would have given, but I stole someone's else's answer for one of them. Anyway, I hope you all continually stay safe and healthy, and have a great week! Thank you for reading! I'd love everyone's opinion on this chapter in the comments, so if you have any constructive criticism, or just any general thoughts, let me know. Don't forget to vote and comment!
With love,
Prisha
