Hyeri had never seen someone so excited for school. No one she'd ever known liked it, with the exception of her mother. She smiled at Jimin's clear enthusiasm.

"Wow, I get my own locker! That's not how it was the last time I went to school. We had to carry our books, this is so much better!" He exclaimed.

"Lunch is 45 minutes long! Wow, ours was only 20 minutes long!"

"There are so many people here. Why are random girls winking at me?"

Hyeri choked the water she was drinking and snapped her head towards Jimin, who looked genuinely confused.

Looking around, she realized that a lot of girls were looking at him. She guessed it was probably because of his good looks, and blushed when she found that Jimin was waiting for an answer.

"Haha, they think you're good looking," she replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

Jimin still looked puzzled.

"But why are they winking?" he asked.

She cleared her throat. "They're flirting with you," she replied, looking down to hide her face.

"Oh," he replied, dumbfounded.

"So do you guys still have schedules, or do you just walk around classes as you please?" Jimin asked her after a moment of awkward silence. Again, he looked genuinely confused.

Hyeri shook her head.

"We have schedules, yeah." She paused. "But, Jimin, you're way outdated. When exactly was the last time you went to school?"

"Oh I believe it was 1960?"

Hyeri was again shocked.

"You don't look that old. You only look, like 19, though," she remarked.

"Once we become Friends, we no longer grow in age or physical appearance. Our minds can still grow and learn, but our bodies don't," he explained.

Hyeri nodded. That made... some sense.

"How are you going to get a schedule?" she asked him as they neared her first class.

"Let me just summon one," he said. He held his hands out and waved his fingers, and a schedule appeared.

"Let's see... I have science, English, history, free period, and then math. Wow, this kinda sucks. I do not want Math at the end of the day," he remarked thoughtfully.

"We have English and math together," Hyeri pointed out.

He gave her a thumbs up and a smile as she entered her classroom.

The day was rather boring for Hyeri. Jimin seemed to be a perfect student, and clearly all his teachers loved him. They seemed shocked that he was friends with Hyeri, but she honestly couldn't care less. However, the next day at lunch, she was surprised when she saw a silver haired boy and someone she knew from history. His name was Minhyuk. She wondered what he was doing with Jimin and the other boy as she approached her lunch table.

The trio were talking and laughing together, and Hyeri felt an unfamiliar pang in her stomach. Ignoring it, she continued over.

Jimin jumped up and smiled at Hyeri as he spotted her walking towards him.

"Hey, Hyeri! This is Joon-hyung and Minhyuk. You already know that Joon-hyung is a Friend, so I guess I just need to tell you that Minhyuk is hyung's human companion," he elaborated.

Namjoon stood up and shook her hand. He towered over both Jimin and Hyeri, and she noticed that he had deep dimples when he smiled.

"Pleased to meet you, Hyeri-ssi," he said, sitting back down. He looked genuinely happy to meet her.

"I'm Minhyuk. I think we both have the same history period right?" Minhyuk asked as Hyeri nodded back in response. "Either way, it's nice to meet you, Hyeri-ssi."

"Nice to meet you both, too," she replied, giving him a smile.

Everyone sat down and began unpacking their lunches.

"It seems Jimin and I have wound up in close proximity. We weren't aware that our human companions went to the same school before we left for our projects. It was a rather nice surprise," Namjoon elaborated while he unpacked his lunch. He spoke in a very refined and sophisticated way, yet he didn't look much older than Jimin.

"How long have you known each other?" Hyeri asked Namjoon. "I mean, you and Minhyuk-ssi."

"We've been acquainted with each other for around two weeks now, I think. Right, Minhyuk-ssi?" Namjoon asked, nudging Minhyuk. Minhyuk titled his head, thinking, and then nodded.

"How about you and Jimin-ssi?" Minhyuk asked.

"Well actually, it's only been a couple of days," Hyeri replied, chuckling as Jimin nodded with his mouth full.

After lunch, Hyeri had a free period. As she listened to music, she thought about her day so far. She liked both Minhyuk and Namjoon, but she couldn't say that she wanted to be friends with them. The more she thought, the more she realized that she was jealous of them. They seemed to already have established a deep friendship with Jimin. He'd talked more with them at lunch than he had with her all day. Her? Jealous? She never would have thought. She laughed at her silliness, yet she realized that she was still upset. The worst part was, she knew that Jimin hadn't meant to make her feel that way. But she couldn't dismiss her feelings. She sighed and continued listening to music, hoping that they would resolve themselves. She hated confrontation, and she hated dealing with her own feelings more. She hoped that her jealousy would pass. However, by the time that the school day had ended and she saw Jimin hugging Namjoon goodbye, she knew that the worst of it was yet to show.

A/n:

Hello everyone! It has been a LONGG time, but finally, I got to writing and published this chapter. I'm not exactly proud of it, because a) it's short, and b) I feel like I wasn't able to communicate Hyeri's feelings well. I'm trying to show that she's jealous, but not a burning, hatred-filled jealous. She's jealous in a way in which she's aware that it's silly and that she really has nothing to worry about, yet she still can't seem to get over it. I believe I failed pretty miserably in getting that across, so I just wanted to share that with you guys in the author's note. I know that this story isn't that great so far, I mean, I have wonderful ideas for the plot, but they haven't really started coming into form yet because I'm still focusing on introducing the characters and building their world. It's a pretty boring and slow-paced story so far. Plus, I haven't even been able to update in a while. All in all, it's not an ideal fanfic to read. That's why I wanna thank those of you who still support me and read every chapter. I really appreciate it. You know what else I'd appreciate? If you guys voted and commented! I've been getting more reads, but not as many upvotes and comments, so I just wanted to put it out there, that I'd really L O V E if you all commented and voted. Seriously, just say anything in the comments, it will make my day! Anyway, I bet the author's note was longer than the chapter itself, so thank you for reading if you read all of it. Share your thoughts with me on the chapter in the comments!

Thank you for reading, I hope you have a nice day!

Take care and stay safe.

I purple you all!

With love,

Prisha
