Thorny kind of Love

Chapter 2

Bell's POV

"Hello, girls." Chantal greets us as we arrive inside the B&B. "I trust you are well rested as we have so much planning and preparations to do today." She sounds much exited. "Good day Chantal, yes I am well rested and what are we preparing for?" I ask with the same excitement. "Not now, we will be having a staff meeting later and I will inform everyone." Chantal's attitude reminded me of a little girl that has some exciting news and couldn't wait to tell someone, her blue eyes lighting up with so much happiness.

She leaves just as Nadia enters with a roster in her hands. Nadia is the head of the staff, she organizers the shifts and duties. She is a very large build with medium brown hair and she is a bit lighter skinned than me. Nadia is forty years old and has been married for almost 25 years, she has three children, all over 18 years old and one grandson. I can't help but panic as Nadia walks towards me, I hope she hasn't noticed that we were 5 minutes late this morning. "Good morning Bell." She greets me with a smile and immediately the panic disappears. "I was hoping that you wouldn't mind assisting with the rooms today, the restaurant won't be that busy today as its pouring outside and I think people will prefer to stay in."

"No, of course, I don't mind, which rooms should I clean?" I ask. "Room 6, 7, and 8, the bedding should be removed and washed and the cupboards need to be dusted, and then of course the room should be vacuumed." She responds.

I make my way to the rooms and immediately start removing the bedding of all the rooms first and take them to the laundry room. "Bella!" Renee screeches, with her huge green eyes staring at me, she is very light-skinned and skinny with brown short frizzy hair, she will be turning thirty soon. Renee does all the BB's laundry and the biggest gossiper, she knows everything happening and there's always a twisted story to her latest gossip. I often manage to dodge her as I was also once a victim of her gossip." Hey Renee." I manage to say and quickly shove the dirty bedding into her hand." This needs to be washed and may I have new bedding for rooms 6, 7, and 8 please?"

"Yes of course, by the way, did you hear of the big event happening here at the B&B?" She eagerly asks me as if she is waiting for a response from me. "I'm sure Chantal will tell us in our staff meeting later." I casually say and with that, I rush off without waiting for her theory of the big event.

I run into Claudia as she makes her way out of one of the rooms. "What has gotten you rushing?" She laughs. "Renee!" I say. "Oh!" Claudia says rolling her eyes and continues to say, "Never mind her, so are you helping me with rooms today?" "Yes Nadia asked me to and besides the restaurant isn't that busy," I say.

"Ok then let's get done and meet for lunch on the bench," Claudia says. I nod and walk towards the rooms. The bench was outside of the B&B, it was a bench facing a small river with a duck pond, and it was a beautiful, peaceful place. Claudia and I loved sitting and chatting there in our lunch break.

After lunchtime, Flynn and Chantal gathered all staff and met with us in the kitchen. "Firstly," Flynn starts, "I would like to thank each and everyone for the excellent work you have been doing, thank you all for your patience with me as I know that I can be hard on you at times."

Flynn was very light of complexion with pitch-black hair, hazel colored eyes, He was a bit taller than me, he wasn't muscular built but not skinny either. Chantal was just as light-skinned as Flynn, she had dark, brown colored hair which she wore in a ponytail ever since I've known her and her eyes were blue, and she was shorter than Flynn and petite.

A hard shove from Claudia refocuses my attention to the meeting. "So as I said," Chantal continues," Our friends and family from Germany will arrive here in less than 5 days to celebrate Flynn and I's engagement." Chantal and Flynn got engaged two weeks ago and they invited their family and friends to come and celebrate it with them, so they're having an engagement party.

I felt as happy for Chantal as I know that she misses her family and friends and this should be something worth celebrating with your loved ones. Chantal is the oldest of two siblings whereas Flynn was an only child. They really loved each other and I often stop and admire them, how affectionate they were with one another, the way Flynn would look with love into Chantal's eyes. I wonder if someone will ever look at me with so much love in their eyes.

Hey guys, so by now I hope you have gotten used to the characters in the book and you should be able to visualize the sceneries as well, some of the characters will only appear once in a while.
