Draco bitterly shoved his hands into his pockets as he passed the greenhouse.
"Malfoy!" Cassius Warrington, his fellow quidditch teammate squabbled as he ran up to the younger slytherin.
"Warrington." Draco was sharp. Blunt. Clearly not in the mood ever since she had cut him off.
"So buddy, I was wondering... since you ended things with winters... maybe you wouldn't mind if I try to get on first name basis with her, if you know what I mean?" He questioned so nonchalantly with a knowing grin that he almost missed the snarl appearing on draco's face.
His fist balled at his sides as he leered at the guy. "She's off limits."
"Oh come on, you already beat me to it at the Yule ball but now she's up for grabs again." He scoffed.
"Watch yourself Warrington." Draco seethed, feeling that lump form in his throat again.
"You're really getting all riled up about winters like that? besides, she's probably looking for someone to play around with now that you're gone. I'll just be first in the line."
Draco count resist anymore and snatched ahold of warrington's collar, shoving him roughly against the fragile shelving. Pots falling at the heavy impact. "Don't you dare go near my girl. She's not a toy you can play around with and she's most definitely not someone you can lay your worthless fingers on... Don't talk about her that way ever again!"
...
"After all, I'm the one who is selfish for loving you when I hurt you."
They talked, cried, held each other and bared all the grief they had suppressed for so long. The supple feeling of emptiness sat with them as alora curled up into draco's arms after it all. If it was even possible, they felt closer than ever before.
"Are you going to tell me why you were arguing with Warrington in the greenhouse before?" She whispered against his chest, the sound of his beating heart against her ear.
"Never mind about that. It was nothing." He feigned, his lips still attached to her skin as he nipped at her collarbone. He was just happy to be holding her in wrapped in his arms. All his.
She hummed, unconvinced at his response but that thought dissipates as she feels his hot breath against her skin again. She folds at the feeling of his soft hair brushing up against her cheek as she intertwined her hand in his.
"Draco?"
"Hmm?" He murmured softly.
"Don't you think we're too different? ... I mean- we'll always have differing opinions, values, friends... we will never find each other on the same page?" That sunken feeling returned to her as she stared at his captivating icy grey eyes.
