Chapter 28

  Ashley's POV

    I'm getting dizzy, this is not going good. I saw as max and the others led everyone out of the restaurant. I felt my whole body get numb and my eyes fluttered shut as I heard Esmeralda say my name softly. I'm gonna wake up in so much pain.

       "Its been an hour where is he? "I asked with an english accent. We we're currently at a ball and god, my ball gown is itchy. How in the world do these princesses wear these. I feel like ripping it off and shoving it down the tailor's throat. We are still waiting for the duke to come, the motherfucker is two hours late. Worst of all, he's the guest of honor and our murder target.

    "He'll be here soon princess Olivia"max said . He's my personal butler to the party. I sighed again when I heard the clank of a glass. They've been doing that for two hours telling us to be patient that the duke is on his way.

   "Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the duke of...... "My mind wondered off as I stared at the guy. He was old and wrinkly and looked very arrogant and cocky, no wonder the commander wanted him dead.

   "Thank you, thank you"he said as two bodyguards positioned themselves beside him. I turned towards max and pretended I'm talking to him while I spoke into my mic.

   "Target on the stage now"I said quickly with a smile as max moved to get me a glass of water. I sipped my water and faced the duke again, man this guy sure can talk.

   "Got it, target will be assassinated in ten seconds, nine, eight, seven. "I heard as I sipped the flavored water. The duke was smiling and saying his overly boring speech thank god he'll be dead in five seconds. I watched the security cameras and the guards, no suspicions, well no surprise there, Danny was going to be killing him from two blocks away.

   "Two, one"I smiled as the bullet entered into the duke's chest implanting itself there as he fell to the ground not been able to even yell in pain because of the bullet in his heart. The ballroom became as people ran and hid for their lives. I almost rolled my eyes at the foolish people as I hid too. If we wanted to kill you all we would have dropped a bomb.

   "Mission complete "I heard Danny say , the guests screamed when they saw the duke in a pool of his own blood and princesses ran out and max and I followed them. The mission was complete, maybe the commander will give us extra points for the acting, I thought as we got in the car and drove to the base ready to submit our report.

  I opened my eyes slightly, my body feeling numb. I shifted uncomfortably as the pain registered into my brain. It felt like my arm was cut off. I groaned and tried to sit up but my head hurt. Did I hit my head when I fell?

  "Hey careful, you're still recovering "I heard the scolding voice of Esmeralda say. I chuckled quietly and lied back down noticing the cafe's cap still on my head probably covering my face.

   "Its ok Es, I'm fine where are we anyway! "I asked quietly not able to talk loudly cause it felt like I'm moving every bone in my body.

   "We're at max's house"she said. I sighed and looked at my bandaged hand.

   "How long have I been out? "I asked. She smiled at me and rubbed my cheek.

   "A few hours"she answered as the door opened.

    "You're such an arrogant dick"I heard max said. Who's he talking to like that?

    "Hn"the person answered as max growled.

   "Can you stop with that infamous 'hn' its so fucking annoying "max growled.

   "I hate your guts "max said. I growled and gripped my head.

   "Can you shut up I'm in so much pain right now and you're making it worse. "I said.

  "Its this prick named Wesley "max said. Wait wesley, Wesley's still here?

   "I didn't do anything "Wesley said in an 'I don't care' voice. I sat up gently and looked at them through my cap.

   "I kept it on cause I know you wouldn't want him to see your face, you're welcome "Es whispered and kissed my head before walking to the door.

   "If I hear any noise I'm coming in with my wooden spoon"Es said in a strict voice then turned to me.

   "I'll bring you chicken soup"she smiled and left the room.

   "Thanks"I whispered.

   "I've got to go I have something to do, hope you get well soon. "Wesley said and walked out the room.

   "Its not like anyone would miss you "max snarled lowly. He probably doesn't want a taste of Esmeralda's wooden spoon.

    "You doing fine? "He asked when Wesley left lifting the cap off my head.

   "Yeah I'm good, a little sore though"I said. He smiled and stroke my cheek.

    "You'll be fine"he said and I smiled.

    "I'll go help Esmeralda ok "he said and I nodded. I picked up my phone as he left opening the tracking app that was tracking  wesley. He stopped and I zoomed in to see him  in the scorpion territory. What is he doing there? The scorpions are as hidden as we are so he couldn't have just bumped into their territory and he hasn't moved and the device is still on him. The question now is what in the hell is he doing there? He isn't part of the gang because there are no high schoolers in the gang or are they adding them now. I need to find out immediately.

   What are you up to Wesley Parker.
