Chapter 6

Laying comfortably on my messy bed, I continued to scroll through whatever I was doing on my phone.

Even though I had a day off work, I didn't really have any plans. Matthew already had plans with family and Carter was out shopping, so I wasn't sure what to do.

I just continued to mindlessly do things on my phone till I wandered upon something to do.

I groaned out of boredom and dropped my head back onto my pillows. My phone laying screen down on my chest.

Then a thought entered my head.

I could call Nick and see if he's free..

I picked up my phone and opened discord.

Although his status was idle I thought I might as well try and call him anyways just in case.

Calling him, I waited for a minute. Discords dial tone playing out as I waited.

It took him a little, but he picked up, a slight smile crawling up onto my lips.

"Heyy Nick, I don't have work today and I was wondering if you were free to hang out today..?" I asked, rolling over to lie on my stomach. Nick stayed quiet for a while.

"Uhh yeah im not busy at the moment, we can hang for a bit" He finally replied, his voice tired.

"So where did you want to go?" He added.

"Uhh..." I replied, not actually having a plan for past this point. Nick chuckled from the other end of the call.

"There's a massive park a little way down from Service road with a walking trail if you wanna go..?" He suggested. I wasn't really a fan of the exercise part of this, but it did sound nice. (That and I don't want to spend any money to go out....)

"You said you lived nearby so im assuming you know the place..?" Nick continued.

I nodded to myself, letting out a hum.

"Yeah, that's the trail down beside Hermann Drive, right?" I asked, asking myself if I knew the place or not.

"Yeah, that one. Wanna meet there..?" Nick asked.

"Sure, ill head over soon, 3 sound good?" I asked.

"See you there." Nick replied, giving his goodbyes as I ended call.

Crap now I have to get ready later..

I sat up, deciding to chill in the lounge room for a bit and watch some tv before I had to go.

As soon as I stepped foot into the hallway, I noticed Carter in the kitchen, unpacking the groceries.

What time did he get home at??

"Hey Carter." I greeted, having him a wave as he smiled and greeted back.

"So, who were you talking to..?" He asked, packing the carton of milk into the fridge.

"Just a friend I made, were meeting up later." I replied, flopping onto the couch.

"Name?"

"It's Nick." I answered.

"We met down at the café on Oakdale street..?"

"OOOooh, romantic.." Carter teased. I sat up, seeing his cheeky smirk.

"Oh, shut up.." I laughed awkwardly as I brushed him away with my hands.

Now sitting cross legged, I watched as Carter finished unpacking and came to sit with me.

"Im just trying to branch out and make new friends that's all.." I explained, Carter laughed as he fell next to me.

"I know, im just teasing." He replied.

I gave him a doubtful stare, not quite sure if he knew he was just a friend.

"So, can I help you get ready for your date??" He asked excitedly, his mood changing instantly to his usual happy one.

"Not a date Carter.." I clarified, sending him a stern glare.

"Play date..?" Carter rephrased with question.

"No that sounds too sexual.."

"Hangout! There we go!" Carter finished, comfortable with his final response.

"Sure, that works." I sighed, chuckling to myself at his behaviour.

Carter and I stood up, making our way to my room.

Carters done this before with other events. He would find nice clothes and dress me up. Sometimes I have to stop him from going overboard but it's nice to see him having fun.

"Okay, you can do your little makeover thing for today. Just don't go overboard!" I stated, not wanting him to treat this as if it were a date.

"Oh, don't be so anxious! It'll be fine!" He replied.
