Drew watched the door close silently. "Alright then, I guess I'll play scavenger hunt in your house while you're out. And-"

"Don't you dare!" Kendra screeched... while flinging open the door and picking Drew up, screeching again in anger, placing poor Drew--who was half to death scared of Kendra's beast and her screeching--on Kendra's so called 'pet' Ravanger, and riding off into the distance while forgetting to lock the house door.

So they were off, into some unknown distance Kendra's creature seemed to know like the back of it's paw. It just ran and ran. And Drew was getting a little dizzy because of it. That was one reason why she hated horseback riding from a young child, not that she was that old but still.

Kendra wasn't saying anything and Drew, not only feeling sick, felt awkward, her stomach was pressed on Kendra's lap while the latter was just gazing into the distance. Drew wondered how this genius drop-out managed to tame such a creature. Ravangers were considered monsters in their Dark Lurker class. They were classified as 'insanely dangerous' and should not be approached by anyone, arch-mage or not, because they could kill. Not much was known about these beasts too. But from what the Skyhaven Empire's special forces had to say when they encountered one of these 'Ravangers'. Well, let's just say none of them survived to tell the tale.

Then suddenly, they stopped. And the surrounding amazed Drew. It was a patch of hilly grasslands with colourful flowers everywhere it somewhat made Kendra stand out like an odd black dot. Also, Kendra's Ravanger had mysteriously disappeared. It was peaceful. Drew somehow felt a bond with this new place. It felt amazing to stand in the greenery, to just look at the sky and horizon. And the flowers? Drew wanted to collect all of them for no apparent reason at all. The blue sky looked so much more beautiful than how it had always looked from her window for over the past three years.

Kendra was also 14. The fact she was Mana 100+ was impressive. Drew only got in a year early, which made her 15 but she was short. And her Mana was barely level one. And the fact that--

"Drew! Come on." Kendra was at the top of the field on flowers, a hand outstretched to the brown-haired girl to follow her.

But Drew didn't go, instead, she just stood there, staring at the dark haired female. The unexpected gush of wind blew her hood off, making Kendra's dark hair spill out and float in the wind. Drew kind of already knew Kendra was pretty because during the first year of school Regan had always been talking about her. Drew knew that Regan was in love with her and she had slight fantasies about what could happen if she herself met Kendra. And even though she wouldn't admit it, she kind of had a fancy for the girl without actually meeting her face-to-face.

But right here, right now, with the wind blowing all around them, Drew couldn't help but blush and thing how unbearably pretty the dark haired girl looked. And somehow, she moved to take the other girls outstretched hand. Then, as if magic, the whole day was fast forwarded and both girls were now lying down on the grass just chilling out. Kendra was laughing at something and her face was bright pink.

"It wasn't that. It's not." Her words were mixed with laughter it was hard to tell what she was trying to say. Then Kendra sat up and said in a serious tone, "Do you ever experience epic nostalgia when doing schoolwork?"

Drew looked at her and smiled quite sadly. Kendra supposed it was because her brother was dead and her parents were at her home town millions of miles away. Same went for Kendra, the first day she had dropped out of school. When the League came to Skyhaven and killed every last living Dark Lurker in existence. Her parents were in the League. But Kendra had never gone home after it all. Supposedly her town was burnt to crisps and there was no saving it anymore. Although, that was years ago and Kendra had found her way around, started BaconHair Diner and survived off it. Defending herself also came easy because she had Kiro when growing up. He thought her everything she knew. Kendra looked back at Drew and saw that silent tears streamed down the other girl's face.

"Oh..." Kendra reached out and pat Drew's head. "Sorry about that. I guess I never realized how much you missed them. I'm sorry for bringing it up."

It had only occurred to Kendra that Drew actually always broke down with the mention of life before Skyhaven. She missed it a lot. Kendra couldn't say she couldn't have missed that old life of hers too. Old life in the small town was simple. School at the big white building, dreading homework and schoolwork, sleeping late because of unfinished assignments and the uniforms. Blue and white dresses, with sailor collars and white socks with black shiny shoes. Kiro somehow saw posters of Skyhaven Academy and then life just kind of fell apart for Kendra. Although she and Kiro had always practiced from then on, life wasn't that simple and happy anymore. The more years passed, the more life seemed to change. Then when she finally got into the Academy at thirteen, Kiro had graduated and gone on a huge mission, which he had never returned. Kendra left the Academy after that. It was barely the first semester and--

"Why are you crying now?" Drew snapped Kendra out of her thoughts, her hand swiped away some glistening tears and smiled at her a little. "I was supposed to be the weepy one. You're the strong one."

Kendra smiled a little and got up. "Come on. Let's get out of here. The sun's setting anyways. By the time we get back it'd be too dark for you to walk back to the Academy. You can bunk at mine if you wanted." Drew nodded and stood. And then the Ravanger appeared from the clearing that Drew hadn't noticed it was there before.

Kendra helped Drew up the beast and they both rode off into the night wondering what might happen tomorrow.

So...? How was today's chapter? Comments?

Anyways, recently, me, myself have been experiencing epic nostalgia about growing up. And forgetting my past. The events that happened and all that. I kind of didn't want to leave it all behind. And it got to me good. I almost cried, almost. And I decided that maybe I'd start a 'Dear Future Me' book because I wanted to preserve the memories in it. I don't want to leave this life behind. Please...
