Kind of references to s3xua1 a55u1t throughout the first part of the chapter. So, be careful.
The drive to the hospital was an interesting one, to say the least. Not only was Midoriya alive, but so were the rest of them, and now there was a new kid. So.... it was also a really quick one. (Aizawa sped the entire way there).
When they finally got to the hospital, they ran in. Thank the gods for each of their amazing endurance. They took the elevator to floor B, and rushed to the room they were in.
Nemuri was the one to knock. The door opened ever so slightly, and a scarred eye looked at them.
"Are you Nemuri?" She nodded. After a moment, the door swung open. Midoriya was being held in a large cuddle pile with the rest of them and the boy with a scar over his eye sat down in the pile.
"Hitoshi?" Aizawa was standing at the doorway. A tear was running down his face.
"Dad!" Hitoshi broke away from the group and leaped into Aizawa's arms. Midoriya grinned at them. Hizashi joined in the hug a second later. Nemuri placed a hand on Hitoshi's back.
It took them a bit to let go of each other.
"So... who's the new kid?" Hizashi asked.
"That is Shoto," Dabi said. Hitoshi rejoined the cuddle pile on the floor. If y'all wanna draw a cuddle pile, I will not object.
"What happened to your hair?" Hizashi had a look of total confusion on his face.
"They wanted us to look like the Rejects." Dabi spat.
"Where- where were you?" Nemuri asked. Once the question was asked, they all glanced around at each other uneasily.
"We- um... We were taken.... by these people." Midoriya avoided eye contact. This was exactly as they planned. Look nervous, look uneasy. Usually this would be taken as a sign of lying, but now it's taken as a sign that something really, really bad happened.
"Yeah.. they did... bad stuff." Toga continued. She gripped onto Midoriya a little bit tighter.
"We all worked to get Midoriya out of there. We knew that he had the best chance of succeeding in life," Dabi was calmer than the rest of them. (That is except for Shoto). He spoke with an even voice, and maintained eye contact.
"They didn't even ask me about it." Midoriya feigned being upset.
"Why didn't you say something?" Aizawa leaned forward, and softened his voice.
"They have someone on the inside of the police." Not a lie. "They would know if you opened an investigation, and they would quickly move where their operation takes place. All of our evidence against them wouldn't work anymore. We had to make sure we knew exactly where they were." Midoriya's voice was shaky. He continued to stare at his hand that was gripping onto Shoto's hand tightly.
Aizawa sighed. He hated how mature Midoriya was being about it all. He hated how well thought out everything was. He wished that Midoriya could just be a kid again.
"Where does Shoto come in to all of it? No offense." Hizashi gave Shoto a sympathetic smile.
"None taken."
"We met him there. He was... under a lot of protection from the people. We were put in the same... cage as he was in. I guess they thought he was less likely to act up if we were there." Toga held disdain in her voice. (She was thinking of Endeavor, but that's not the point).
"We decided to help each other." Shoto spoke up.
Shigiraki scribbled down a note and passed it to Midoriya.
"I am NOT reading that." Shigiraki sighed and fixed it. "We found those jerks trying to," Midoriya choked on his words. "Do stuff to me."
Anger swelled in Aizawa's chest.
"Turns out, they went a long way to find Midoriya and were getting... revenge for escaping." The way that Toga spoke sent a shiver down Aizawa's spine. "The Rejects showed up, though. They beat them up, spray painted the wall, and left."
The way Toga spoke, the 'adults' had a feeling that they did a little bit more than just beat up the perpetrators.
---------------
They refused to be apart from each other. Almost everything they did, they did together. Everyone understood. They felt safe around each other. They felt assured around each other. It was a little bit of a pain, though, because Midoriya and Hitoshi refused to let them leave the house.
So they all slept in their room together. Upside- less nightmares. Downside- that is by ratio of people, so there was still more nightmares, and they had a really difficult time sleeping overall.
That's fine.
That morning, they decided they needed to go on a major grocery run. They left the younglings. There weren't enough seats in the car, and they didn't feel like taking the bus.
They didn't know what to expect when they got home. What they didn't expect was all of them screaming at the table about something being one off.
"FUCK OFF!" Dabi shouted.
"NO CURSING IN FRONT OF THE BABY!" Toga slapped him over the head.
"IF IT WERE ONE OVER WE WOULD GET IT, AND THE KING WOULD BE DEAD, BUT NOOOOOOOOO!"
Aizawa coughed in the doorway, and six head snapped in their direction. Shoto was sitting behind a folder they stood up, and they each had a piece of paper in front of them.
"Dungeons and Dragons?" Hizashi finally said.
"Yeah..." Toga said hesitantly.
"What happened?" he asked.
"The stupid die was one off from what we needed to kill the king!" Dabi fell back into his seat.
"Dang, hate it when that happens." He walked into the kitchen, and started to put away the groceries. "Help us with the groceries?"
Midoriya was the first to get up, followed closely by everyone else. Thank goodness they had an open kitchen.
There were three chefs in the kitchen when they made dinner. When the children headed off to bed, the adults may or may not have opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed some calm time. No matter how much they loved the kids, they were tired.
Nemuri said that she had some work to do, so she left after one glass of wine.
Aizawa and Hizashi headed to bed after each of their second glasses. And if you ask, they just went straight to bed. Nothing else happened.
