you're sick

"Hey! There you are," Solar said excitedly when you walked through the front door and closed it behind you. She listened to you kick off your shoes as she searched for the remote to turn off the show she'd been entertaining herself with before she finally looked your way.

There was a smile on her face as she asked you how your day was but she didn't even finish her question before she stopped talking.

There was something wrong. She could see it from the look in your eyes and the way you held onto your stomach. "Oh, hey..." she whispered sadly as she stood up and walked to you. She laid her hand on your forehead and watched your eyes close. Her fingertips felt a little cold and it comforted your feverish skin.

"You're burning up. Go up to bed. I'll be there in a moment to join you."

You shook your head quickly. "Solar, no. You had a busy afternoon, you deserve to relax-"

"Shh." She interrupted, fingers moving along your arm soothingly. "I did, and I had a very early start this morning, so I'm just as tired as you. Besides, you need some cuddles and I'm happy to give them to you." She sent you a small, sad smile and kissed your warm forehead. "Go lay down." She said and nodded toward the stairs.

She watched you reach the top step and took a deep breath. Her mind was already starting to wander away from her. She wanted more than anything to make you feel better, and she figured she could with a few simple remedies aside from the obvious ones like you resting as much as possible.

She grabbed you some ice cold water and a wet a cloth down with some cool water, to lay over your forehead. She also grabbed a bucket for you and some crackers for you to snack on if you got hungry; knowing that they'd probably sit well in your stomach.

She saw you laying in her sweater when she made it up to bed, but the warmth spreading through her heart quickly became replaced with a feeling of sadness.

You looked so uncomfortable. Tossing and turning as beads of sweat rolled down your skin. You held onto your stomach and squeezed your eyes shut.

"Oh, honey." She mumbled as she made her way over to you. "Can I do anything to make you feel better? Do you need some soup or maybe a heating pad for your stomach?"

The offer was sweet, that was for certain. But your stomach already felt pretty gross and the mention of food only seemed to make it worse.

She went to lay her hand on your shoulder but you were pushing the blanket around your feet away fast to leap out of bed and rush into the bathroom.

Solar cringed at the sound of you being sick, but her instincts kicked in quickly and she was running in behind you. She held your hair back and tried to comfort you by rubbing your back and shoulders, but she was a bit of a worrywart the whole time.

Her heart was beating fast and her hands were trembling like yours were.

"It's alright. I'm here, Y/N. It'll be okay." She whispered softly, hoping her words were enough to bring you comfort. "I know it's terrible but you'll be alright." She soothed.

It took several minutes for the terrible sick feeling to go and for the nearly unbearable ache in your stomach to ease.

You groaned, fingers trembling as the sick feeling returned a little since the taste remained on your tongue. But it didn't last long and thankfully didn't end the same way it had before.

"Are you alright?" Solar mumbled worriedly.

You waited a moment before nodding slowly. "I think I'm alright now."

She waited a moment before she let your hair fall below your shoulders again. She kissed your cheek a few times as well as the back of your neck. She gnawed at her lip and felt her nerves ease when you started to slowly stand on your own two feet.

But your legs were weak, so she had to quickly put an arm around you so you wouldn't fall.

"I've got you." She promised. "Do you think you can brush your teeth, darling?"

"If you'll hold me." You mumbled. You were tired, to begin with, but even more so now.

"Of course I will." She said and kept her grip on you loose but steady as you brushed your teeth and tongue and rinsed your mouth out to rid that gross taste from your tongue.

"Okay. Better?"  She asked when you put your toothbrush back and turned around to bury your face in her shirt. Her smell is always comforting and even more so now. You gave her a nod and she turned the light off before helping you back to bed.

"There's some cold water there, and a bucket here in case you need it."

You took a few sips, finding the cold water soothing against your sore throat.

"Thank you. There's only one thing I need now,"

Solar quickly nodded. "Yes, baby?"

"Cuddles."

She breathed out a sigh of relief and crawled in beside you. She made sure you were secure and warm beneath the blankets before she laid a few kisses to your head.

"Sleep tight, Y/N. I hope you feel better soon." She whispered as you closed your eyes and quickly drifted off to sleep.
