waking her for cuddles

You let out a heavy sigh and rubbed your hand over your face while you continued to lay restless beside Solar.

Next to you, she's sleeping soundly. You could hear her soft breathing and you tried hard to let it lull you to sleep.

But an hour and a half has passed since you came up to bed and you're still wide awake, despite all your efforts to try to get to sleep.

Biting at your lip as a wave of anxiety washed over you, your mind already started to run since you know you have a busy day ahead and an early wake-up. You tried to resist the urge to look at the clock but your curiosity was getting the best of you, and the time only seemed to make your mind run more.

Feeling restless and a little nervous, you wanted nothing more than to be wrapped in Solar's embrace. You wanted to feel the comfort of her arms and maybe even hear her voice in your ear as words of comfort would fall from her lips, in hopes that your mind was calm and you'd drift off to sleep.

"Solar?" You spoke softly, hoping that would be enough to wake her. But she stayed asleep, eyes stayed close and she remained still.

"Solar?" You spoke a little louder and tapped her shoulder and it made her stir. "Solar, please wake up." You mumbled, shaking her shoulder, watching as she turned onto her back and opened her eyes.

"Y/N?"

"Yeah."

"What time is it?" She asked groggily and rubbed her eyes and tried her best to keep them open. But they were growing heavy and she was quickly losing the fight.

"Almost three in the morning."

"What? Baby, we both have to be up in a few hours."

"I know. I can't sleep.  Sorry that I woke you but I don't know what to do. My mind is running and..." you paused, biting your lip. "I just need you."

She nodded and sat up a little. "I'm here. What do you need?"

"Can you cuddle me?"

She cracked a small smile; a tired one. But she opened her arms for you and held you when you were in her embrace.

"I've got you now." She soothed. "No more worrying. Whatever happens, we'll work through it. If you can't sleep we'll have an early night tomorrow. But just try to rest now."

You nodded slowly and closed your eyes while leaning into her touch as she caressed your cheek. She planted a bunch of kisses to your forehead and temple and watched your eyelashes flutter against your cheeks.

"Sleep now, darling."

You made a few soft sounds in response, suddenly feeling too tired to respond verbally. She laid her head back on her pillow and closed her eyes while keeping you safe in her arms as you finally drifted off to sleep.
