she wants your attention

After a few busy hours spent cooped up in the booth at the studio, Solar was happy to be able to kick off her shoes and fall onto the sofa beside you.

She straightened her slightly messy hair and looked over at you, only to find you with a book in your lap and your lip between your teeth.

She leaned forward to sneak a peek at the cover, cracking a smile as she fell back against the cushion after finding that you'd cracked one of your favorites open once more; for what she thought must be the tenth time now.

She placed her hand on your thigh. Your skin was smooth and warm against the tips of her fingers and she couldn't help but brush them in circles. You still gnawed at the skin of your lip, because despite how many times you've read this book you're always finding yourself hooked on every word every time you read it.

She watched your eyes travel along the written words. You were so focused and though she didn't want to interrupt your concentration, she also found herself longing to be wrapped in your arms. She wanted to kiss your lips and hold you as tightly as you always hold her. She craved your touch and the taste of your lips.

Because although her day was busy and she felt awfully tired, she knew you'd bring her the comfort she so wanted.

She found herself laying her head on your shoulder. Her nose brushed against your soft skin and she closed her eyes, breathing out deeply when she inhaled the citrusy smell of your shower gel.

She laid a kiss on your skin, and then another. She figured it would surely get your attention.

But you stayed focused on your story. Your lip stayed between your teeth and your eyes continued to move along the words on the pages.

She sighed; a little over-dramatically, though. But she noticed your lips tug into a smile. You couldn't hide that from her even if you tried.

"Y/N," she whispered, tapping your shoulder with her fingers. "I'm home. Pay attention to me, please." She whined, although adorably. You couldn't help but chuckle at her cuteness and found yourself looking away from your book for the first time in a while.

"Yes?"

"Pay attention to me." She pouted but the pout on her lips quickly faded when you pecked them softly.

"Okay."

Her eyes lit up and her smile grew, only for her pout to return when you said,

"Just let me finish this."

She whined a few times, calling your name and poking at your sides only for you to shake your head with a giggle.

Slightly annoyed, she pushed the book up from your lap and fell onto it. She sighed a couple of times and you just closed your book with a laugh.

"Okay, okay. You have my attention now."

She cheered and sat up to throw her arms around you. She placed her head on your chest, ear resting right over your heart where the sound of your heartbeat thudding against her ears brought her comfort.

"Did you have a good day?"

She nodded before lifting her head. You parted your lips, ready to rattle off another question or two when she suddenly placed her lips onto yours to bring you in for a soft, sweet kiss.

"I'm just happy to be home with you now. Missed you." She mumbled and laid her cheek on your shoulder. Her eyes closed when you started to rub her back and lay kissed to her head.

"I missed you too." You whispered, basking in the comfortable silence in the air and her arms wrapped around you.
