The lavender sword now gleamed in my hand as I whirled around to strike at the black robed figure that casted down from above. The body split into the blade sending splatters of crimson in every direction— on the floor, the dress, and my face. There was no time to acknowledge it, however. No, more were beginning to come our way.

"Sun and the plain, they've done it again," Hongjoong hissed, sweat dripping from his face as embers of fire surrounded him, a bronze blade in hand and bronze armor cladding his body.

I knew exactly what Hongjoong was referring to: our second forms. They'd zapped them away once again, the Takers. It left us somewhat defenseless, but four Monarchs paired up against a hoard of Takers was better than nothing.

We sat in a circle, Hongjoong, Mingi, Leeyon, and myself. Mingi was cladded in red and gold, a broad blade matching his armor in hand. Leeyon was in turquoise armor with water swirling around her body, ready to strike. It was us and the Takers. Of course, there were fits of magic and other battles taking place at other parts of the ballroom. The ballroom now seemed to glow read as fire could now be seen inching up and engulfing the walls. Red hot searing fire yet nothing felt warm as several chills were running down my spine. No, I couldn't focus on that. Not the earth-shattering screams. Not the clashing of distant blades and war-cries. Not the red flickering flames. I could only focus on the enemy in front of me, and their crazed hungering eyes.

Five were lunging at me then. Their movements were quick, but my eyes had perfectly clear, unblinking vision. I sent a wave of black and gold lashes, cutting their bodies into pieces. I gave myself a quick sign of relief as I watched the mangled body parts fall to the ground. That was a mistake, however. I never paid attention to what was behind me. That cool touch on my back...

I quickly sprung out, a surge of energy flowing through me as I turned around to find what was behind me. His lavender hair sagged into his crazed eyes as he gazed down at his shaking hand in front of him. Wooyoung barked out in pain as he drew in back, almost like he'd touched something burning, but he looked up to me with a smile nonetheless.

I lashed out a string of golden magic though I should've known it would do no good against Wooyoung. Then I saw the figure that stood beside him, fire launching at distant enemies, oblivious to the Taker beside him. And the lash of my gold magic wasn't only going to strike Wooyoung's field of sight, it would strike his too.

I landed on my feet nimbly as I gazed at the figure in front of me before I screamed, "Hongjoong!"

Hongjoong's eyes immediately widened gazing in my direction only to see the lash of gold that was aimed right for his chest. His teeth gritted as he took in the sight. I could do nothing as I watched. But where the gold lash should've met his body, disappeared along with what would've hit Wooyoung's.

My eyes were wide in shock. Hongjoong couldn't possibly have dodged that. The wave of magic hadd simply vanished like it had for Wooyoung.

That's when Hongjoong turned around to be met with the violet hungering eyes of Wooyoung. Hongjoong leaped back immediately, fire now dancing in both of his palms before he sent them hurtling at Wooyoung. Wooyoung gritted his teeth in pain as he watched both flames vanish upon contact with his body. Hongjoong stared in disbelief as he landed on the marble floor, about to send two more fire balls when he was overwhelmed by more Takers and vanished into the field of battle.
