She got the brains - she got the looks
She knows all the right people - reads all the right books
She's got my name - she's got my number
But what she sees in me I sometimes wonder
She's a little too good for me
She's gonna change me if I let her
She's a little too good for me

Somewhere between my daughter telling me I needed to grow a pair of balls and finding Macie half naked, singing and dancing to Britney Spears in her bedroom, I ended up growing a pair and asked her out. Then I went to my room and freaked out because I haven't been on a date in years.

YEARS.

In fact, Christy and I never really dated. We were just two kids who had sex, got pregnant and ended up being girlfriend and boyfriend, so I guess I've never really dated.

I talked to some of the guys at the television station, asking what I should do and where I should take her. Of course, they have no idea its Macie Blanton that I'm talking about. Macie Blanton who happens to be on the cover of Glamour this month. I walked by the magazine while paying for gas today and stopped. I stared at it, not believing that the girl on that magazine cover was going out with me.

So I bought a copy, sat in my SUV at lunch and read the article only to find something interesting in there. The interview was done a month and a half before because he remembered Zoey telling him that Macie was interviewed by a journalist for a big magazine.

In the article, Macie talks about her personal life, or lack of, and mentions that she finally found a guy that she liked because he was normal and wasn't pretentious and full of himself. The interviewer must have asked if she and the guy were dating and she said no, but that she hoped he would ask her out soon because she had already tried asking him out in a sly manner.

That guy she was talking about was me. I sat there, staring at the article and the pictures of her in the magazine realizing that like her character in the show, she really was a cover girl. She wasn't as thin as Gisele or Miranda or any other Victoria Secret model, but the camera really did love her.

I knew tonight couldn't just be a little dinner and off to the movies. I knew tonight had to be nice. I couldn't just take her to Wendy's or to Burger King. She deserved more than that.

And I'm still trying to figure out why she likes me. Maybe I'll figure that out tonight.

Nick sighed as the maitre 'd sat pulled out the chair for Macie as he showed them to their table that evening. Nick watched Macie, in her sleeveless, long black dress as she sat down and he followed, trying his best not to be clumsy and knock something over.

"You know we didn't have to come to a fancy place," Macie whispered, leaning over the table. Nick looked at her cleavage and then back up at her. "Damn, this dress is too revealing. I feel like a whore."

"You were just leaning over, the dress is beautiful," Nick smiled. "A guy that works at the station's brother owns this place, so we're eating for free."

"Nice," Macie grinned, opening up the menu. Nick watched her and smiled, looking at the menu himself. "I have to admit though, I'm kind of shocked you asked me out."

"Why?" Nick asked, looking up at her.

"Still not sure if this is just dinner or a date or what," Macie smiled, looking over her menu at him.

"It's a date," he whispered, staring at her. "Besides, I read in Glamour today that is what you wanted was for the guy you liked to ask you out."

"You read that!" Macie exclaimed as Nick laughed, leaning back in his chair.
