Nick sat on the sofa in his living room that night, staring at the television. He couldn't find anything on that he wanted to watch and Zach had already went to bed. Of course, nothing was holding his attention because he couldn't get over the fact that Zoey had started her period.

The thought of it made him shiver.

He was thankful that Georgia had introduced him to Macie because without her, he would have been lost. He was even more thankful that Macie put her cell phone number in his contacts earlier that day. He had no idea what to tell his daughter about starting her period. Thankfully, Macie did.

After spending thirty minutes or so in the bathroom with her, both of them walked out and Macie asked to take Zoey shopping for some 'girl things.'

And they had been gone for three hours. Of course, he wasn't worried that a celebrity had kidnapped his daughter. He just wished she had called but her cell phone had dropped out of her purse in the bathroom and was now sitting on his coffee table.

"Hey Daddy," he heard Zoey say. He looked from the television and saw Zoey and Macie walk into the apartment, with Zoey holding a few bags.

"I lost my phone or I would have called," Macie said as Nick pointed to the coffee table. "Ah, I dropped it, didn't I?"

"Did you guys have a good time?" Nick asked as Zoey smiled, nodding her head.

"Macie took me shopping and told me about things I needed to know about and then bought me a few books," Zoey said as she started to show Nick and he held his hands out, stopping her.

"It's late, why don't you go ahead and go get ready for bed," Nick said as Zoey nodded, walking over to hug Macie.

"Thanks Macie for everything," Zoey said, hugging Macie as Nick smiled. She walked over to Nick, hugging him and then made her way into her room, shutting the door behind her.

"I don't know how I can thank you," Nick said as Macie sat down in a chair across from him. "I swear, I owe you my life right now because if you hadn't put your number in my phone, I would have had a stroke."

"Its fine," Macie smiled. "I had to have the talk with my little sister when she got hers. My parents were away for the weekend, so I'm experienced in it. It was fine. I had fun going out with her. I just didn't know you had kids."

"Yep, two," Nick smiled, leaning back on the sofa. "Now you see why I have to come home right after work."

"You must have had them when you were young because you can't be much older than 30 or so," she said as he nodded.

"I'm 28," he sighed. "I had just turned 16 when Zoey was born. Zach came along three years later." He didn't want to get into his life story but he knew if he said anything else to her about it, he would have to tell her the life story of Nick Stewart.

"Zoey told me that she didn't know her mother and didn't really remember her," Macie said as Nick nodded. "So you do it all on your own? That's got to be tough."

"I feel like I haven't had much of a life since their mother left and it's just been me. I mean, back at home, I had my Mom to help some, but since we moved out here, it's just been me," he said, cracking a smile. "Which is fine. I mean, right now I've moved to L.A. and I have a job that I really like, doing something I love. They wanted to move out here too because Zoey has this idea that she's going to be the next Britney Spears, God help her, so I'm good."

"Yeah, she said you haven't had a girlfriend in a long time," Macie whispered as Nick sighed, looking away.

"She and my mother are always bringing that up but you know, you get a girl pregnant the first time you have sex and it kind of loses the hotness of it all," he said, shaking his head. "And I'm not gay, for the record."
