Chapter 2 Jacielle
3 years later
“Do you want fries with that?” I asked. The crisp November wind hit my cheeks as I opened the drive-thru window. I’ve been working at McDonald’s for the past two years in order to save up money to go visit Harry. Taz and I have kept in touch with him since our last trip toEnglandthree years ago. That was the last time I actually seen Harry, unless you count magazines, twitter, tumblr, TV, or anything else that you could look at. I was a paycheck away from my goal. Mom and dad didn’t approve of my ‘frivolous spending’. I told them they could shove their opinions up their asses. Now that I was legal I could do whatever I wanted. Me and Taz graduated from high school back in April and my parents were devastated when I told them we weren’t going to college. Ever since Matt died in the car crash they’ve had high expectations for me and Taz. They missed Matt and Zaya. After Matt died, Zaya moved out with her toddler to get away from memories of him. I felt bad for her. She had done everything with Matt and now he was gone. I refocused on my job and handed the disheveled old man his carb filled bag of food. I looked at the clock. It was five, time for me to leave thank god. “I’m out.” I said throwing off the headset while grabbing my jacket and keys. I headed outside and pulled out my cell phone. “Hey Hazza!” I said joyfully as I slid into the driver’s seat.
“Hey Jace.” He said obviously eating something. Just the thought of food made me want to puke. I pulled out onto the main road and was instantly engulfed by traffic. I ran a hand down my face and cranked the heat up.
“So how’s my superstar?” he laughed.
“Better now that you called.” I could only imagine the sly look on his face. “How are you love?” he asked. I could hear a hint of worry hidden in his cheeky British accent.
“I’m just like I use to be.” I said sadly. He sighed.
“It’s almost been two years since..” he couldn’t finish his sentence. Matt had been like and older brother to him.
“Since he died? I know.” I finished for him. I was almost home when the car in front of me stopped suddenly. “Fuck!” I yelled hitting the brakes too late. My car collided with theirs. The only difference was their car didn’t flip mine did. The last thing I remembered was the car flipping multiple times and Harry’s worried voice screaming through the phone to not leave him.
“Don’t leave me too Jace!” was the last thing I heard before I blacked out.

I had a headache. The room was too bright. Everything was reflecting of the white walls. I moved and pain shot up my back. “Shit.” I groaned. My mom’s mass of black hair flew into my face.
“Thank god you’re alive!” my mom hugged me and I couldn’t breathe because she was squeezing me.
“Mom, you’re hurting me.” She let go and backed up. Her tear streaked face came into view.
“What were you thinking?” she started her lecture about immaturity. “You’re lucky you’re not severely hurt or worse!” I rolled my eyes.
“Calm the fuck down mom. I have a headache.” My head was pounding.
“ Stop cursing! You know better than that!” she yelled. It reminded me of Harry jokingly telling me to stop cursing. Harry . Oh lord. I sat up ignoring the sharp pain everywhere.
“Where’s my phone?” mom froze crossing her arms.
“You almost died and you’re worried about you’re phone?”
“Well I didn’t die, so give me my phone. I need to call Harry.” She rolled her eyes.
“The boy fromEngland? He’s the one who made you crash!” that made all my patience disappear.
“He did not make me crash. He’s more than just a boy. We’ve been friends since birth and you out of all people should know that!” I took out all the IV’s and walked over to my phone.
“What are you doing?” Mom said starting to freak out.
“I’m checking my phone. What’s it look like?” she sighed.
“You have to be in bed hooked up to things.” She kept ranting while I tried to figure out my broken phone. The screen was shattered and the back was missing. “You’re not fully healed.” She finished.
“This isn’t going to work.” I said frustrated. Mom looked at me.
“Were you even listening?” she asked. I sighed.
“No mom. I have more important things to worry about rather than being hooked up to drugs that addicts would pay big money for.” She shook her head.
“Why can’t you be normal?” she said firmly. I thought about it for a moment.
“Because then life wouldn’t be fun. Something you don’t know about since you’re heartless.” Why are parents so complicated? I saw a pile of my clothes that mom must’ve brought. Mom stood their shocked. I was surprised she hadn’t screamed for a nurse yet. I went into the bathroom and changed. When I remerged into the hospital room she wasn’t there. I shrugged and walked out of the room straight into Taz.
“Thank heavens!” I just shook my head.
“ No time. I have to call Harry.” She looked at me confused.
“You don’t know do you?” a smile broke out across her face. She started pushing me. “C’mon! A little help would be nice.” We argued all the way to the waiting room.
“Stop pushing me! What do I not know?” I stopped.
“Jace!” his British accent was closer than ever. All the nights under the stars came back. All the songs he sang to me. His arms wrapped around me picking me up off the ground and spinning me in circles making me completely forget about my headache.
“Hazza! I missed you so much!” he put me back on the ground. I looked into his bright green eyes. “How’d you get here?” he gave me a look telling me that I was stupid.
“Oh, you know, a car and a plane.” He smiled. “I’m so glad you’re okay!” he kissed my forehead.
“I’m glad my best friends back.” I said before we hugged again
