Chapter 4 Jacielle

A few cool drops touched my skin. I opened my eyes to see the tops of a few trees and a dull grey sky. Harry’s arms were tightly wrapped around me. I lightly kissed his cheek. “Hey best friend.” He smiled and pushed my face away.

“Your breath stinks freak.” I moved and laid across his lap so he could play with my hair.

“Well I didn’t plan on sleeping outside.” He smiled.

“You and me both.” I shook my head.

“It’s about to rain.” He looked up at the sky making his green eyes sparkle. “Maybe we should leave. It can’t be good for your image anyway, sleeping outside with some random stranger in the middle of nowhere.” I began to get up, but he grabbed my arm. I felt a few more drops land on my face.

“Do I look like I care about my image?” he motioned to his tussled appearance. “And you’re not a stranger, you’re my freak.” I laughed. He smiled showing his dimples before the sky lost its patience and poured. “I told you we should’ve left.” He said sarcastically. I quickly got up, but Harry was still sitting there.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“Well, we’re about to mud wrestle.” I processed the words in my brain and quickly ran away. I didn’t even get two feet before Harry was on top of me. He started rubbing mud on my face. “You jerk!” I yelled picking up a handful of mud and sticking it down his shirt. He jumped up and I hopped on his back. We were completely soaked and covered in mud when we ducked into the rundown shed a couple of fields away from the car. “You’re weird.” I coughed out. He smiled.

“Says the girl whose hair is matted.” I rolled my eyes and smiled. He put his hands on either side of my face.

“I brought you out here to ask you something.” I sighed and crossed my arms.

“What do you want Styles?” he smiled.

“There’s an empty spot for an opening act on our ‘Take Me Home’ tour, and I know you can sing because I’ve heard you, so would you like to claim that spot and go toEnglandwith me?” I was completely speechless. How can this even be possible? “You can stay with me and the boys if you’d like.”

“Harry I can’t sing in front of all those people and I can’t leave Taz.” He shook his head frantically.

“I already talked to Taz. She wants you to go and so doI.” he looked down at the ground and I sighed.

“Okay.” He shot his head up.

“Really?” I placed my hand on my hip.

“No I’m kidding. Yes really.” He smiled and swung me in circles back out in the rain. He sat me down and cupped my face.

“Thank you.” He said before kissing my lips softly. Confused I patted his cheek.

“You’re welcome jerk. I’m only doing it because I miss you.” He smiled.

“Jacielle Kennedy Fields!” my mom yelled as soon as I walked through the door with Harry. I sighed and pulled off my muddy boots. She marched over to me and started shaking me. “Where have you been? You didn’t come home last night, and just look at you.” She motioned to my soaked clothes and I rolled my eyes. I completely forgot dealing with her. A guy ran over to Harry and started drilling him with questions. Harry ran a hand down his face before yelling back. My mom snapped her fingers in my face. “Are you even listening?” she asked her famous question already knowing the answer. She followed my gaze towards Harry and sighed. “I’m sending that boy home.” I shot her a look.

            “You can’t. He’s eighteen.”

“He’s been nothing but trouble for you. When you were fifteen he pressured you into drinking and then he caused your wreak!” her face twisted in disgust as she thought about all the bad stuff me and Harry did years ago. I just smiled. I remembered how we ‘cleaned up’ the bungalow three summers ago. We shoved all the empty beer cans and cups in one of the back closets thinking no one would look there until we left. Anne found them on the last day we were inEngland. Harry was grounded and she called my mom for me and Taz’s punishment.

“Mom, I smoked and drank back then. And would it help if I also told you I’m not a virgin?” her mouth dropped in shock and I shrugged knowing I just told one of the biggest lies in my life.

“How could you!” she ripped off her wedding ring and shoved it in my face. “What’s your husband going to do when he finds out another man got it before him?” she returned the ring to her finger. “Who did you lose it to?” I looked over at Harry and smiled. He was going to love this.

“Harold.” I pointed to him and all arguing ceased when she walked over and slapped him before walking out of the house into the rain. Harry looked at me shocked and I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt. The guy who was arguing with Harry followed my mom outside. “Oh my gosh.” I said catching my breath. “You should’ve seen your face.” He walked over to me.

“May I ask why she slapped me?” I smiled and walked into the kitchen.

“You ‘stole my virginity’.” I held up aCapriSun. “Want one?” he nodded and I handed it to him.

“I could do that.” I glared at him.

“Your head’s not going to fit through the doorway if you keep thinking like that.” He laughed.

“What you think I couldn’t get with you?” I smiled.

“You can’t we promised each other when we were seven I think.” He nodded.

“Touché.” I laughed and he smiled. “So we’re heading out tomorrow, consequences of getting in trouble, so you need to pack.” I sighed and hit my head against the cool refrigerator.

“Alright.” I said reluctantly and walked upstairs to my room.

“Do you want help?” he stood nervously in the doorway.

“Yeah, just get the suitcases out of the back of the closet.” He retrieved them and placed them on my bed.

“Do we have to back that whole closet?” I smiled.

            “Yes sir.” He sighed.

“This is going to take years.” I shook my head and continued packing, loving every minute of Harry’s misery.
