hyeongjun eyes fluttered open and met an unfamiliar white ceiling. he groaned when his head started hurting when he tried to sit up.
"hyung!"
he turned his head to the left side of the room where he heard a loud shout and smiled when he saw seongmin, standing up with a shocked expression.
serim who was sleeping at the couch woke up with seongmin's loud shout and groggily rubbed his eyes while trying to sit up.
"what happened-"
he jumped when he met hyeongjun's eyes that was staring at him while wearing a small, weak smile. "you're finally awake!" he stood up and ran next to his side immediately with teary eyes.
"he's awake!" seongmin yelled outside the ward for the nurses and doctors to hear for them to check up on him. they rushed in the room and started checking hyeongjun.
"why am i here?" hyeongjun faintly asked the doctor who was checking his heartbeat with a stethoscope. serim and seongmin exchanged worried looks, worried if their friend was diagnosed with amnesia.
"don't you remember anything, mr.song?" hyeongjun nodded at the doctor's question. "i-i don't. i just- i just remembered going alone somewhere and that's it," he fidgeted with his fingers as he tried to recall but his head ended up hurting more, frustrating him.
the doctor patted his shoulder and smiled, "don't stress it out," he then faced serim and seongmin who were both anxious. "memory loss is a common symptom in a traumatic brain injury. for now, i suggest you rest than stressing out,"
hyeongjun silently nodded and serim escorted them out while saying thank you multiple times. seongmin sat down on the chair beside him, "are you okay?" he asked.
"y-yeah," although the doctor said to not worry about not remembering what happened to him, his thoughts were clouded with questions on how he ended up in the hospital with a brain injury.
"was i hit by a car or something?" he curiously asked seongmin. "no, you were hit by a bus actually," serim sighed and stood next to where seongmin was sitting.
he couldn't believe what he was hearing, "what?!"
"people who helped you said that you were about to save a boy,"
his eyes was full of concern, "is the boy safe?" serim nodded and smiled. "thankfully, yes," hyeongjun sighed in relief and sat back on his bed.
he already knew why he ended up in hospital but he was still bothered for some reason. he felt like there was something not adding up but he didn't know what it was.
