Chapter 8: Moving In

Renesmee P.O.V.

Alec and I entered Aro's chamber and I soon spotted Cauis sitting on Aro's bed. His bedding was the same shade of red as Alec's, but his room was bigger. I guess being the ruler of the all-powerful Vampire Goverment entitles you to that kind of stuff. 

I quietly giggle at my remark, but then stop as I feel Cauis's blood red eyes on me. 

"Brother, what is this Cullen doing here? And why is she clinging to poor Alec like that?" Cauis seethed, and I growled back at him but Aro and Alec both sent me warning glances. 

Cauis was not to be messed with. 

"Dear Uncle, Renesmee has joined us. Haven't you heard the joyous news?" Alec asked, fake sincerity dripping from his clenched teeth. Cauis stood up from the bed and walked over so he was standing next to Aro. 

"Yes Cauis, Renesmee has taken Jane's place on The Council. Oh Heidi! Can you fetch Marcus for me, he must hear the news too!" Aro informed Cauis, annd called to Heidi, who I remember my father mentioning in a story he had told me about when he had first left my mother. 

I shiver at the thought of my mother, and Alec quickly feels my tension. "Easy baby girl, easy." He sooths, and I relax immediately.

As we wait for Marcus to arrive, the tension is very thick. To ease it, I ask Aro a question.

"Master, how have you been able to keep out of the public eye so easily? There has to be at least fifty  or more of you all here, how do... feed so inconspicously?" 

"Well, Dear Renesmee, most of us used to go out of the city to hunt. But we realized that hunting on completely innocent humans was.. inhumane. So now we hunt in Volterra, but only on the scum. Prostitutes, criminals, the lot." Aro smiles sweetly at me, and seems proud of his new diet. 

I'm beyond shocked. I look up at Alec and he nods, a smile on his face as well, confirming that Aro's story is valid. 

"My mother and father, and the rest of my family, they told me that you were all horrible people. They said that you relished feeding on the innocent, and that you brought people in here for tours and you fed on them. They made you out as such bad people, but you are not so bad at all!" My voice rose in anger and Alec had to grab ahold of my shoulders to stabilize me. 

"Oh yes, we were horrible people, before you were born that is," Cauis said for the first time since Aro called for Heidi. "We did everything your parents had told you. But we had someone come to us and he told us how badly we were affecting the human world, and we were starting to attract attention." He finished, a sour look on his face. 

"Ah yes, young Garrett. Poor boy thought he was going to get himself killed by coming here, but no. He changed us all." Marcus said, walking in with who I am assuming to be Heidi behind him. 

Heidi had fire engine red eyes, and long flowing blonde hair. She strongly resembled Aunt Rosalie, but I made sure that thought exited my head as quickly as it came in. Heidi was dressed in a tight, black leather dress with heels that matched her eyes. She was stunning. 

"Young Renesmee, it is a great pleasure to meet you," Heidi said, her voice a high pitch sound, which I would not expect from such an intimidating woman. She grabbed my free hand, kissed my knuckles, and smiled at me.

"My sincerest congratulations to the both of you." She kissed Alec on the cheek before gracefully stalking out of the room, before shutting the chamber door behind her.
