48. The Calvary

Korn's POV

Yo was in trouble. The worst kind of trouble with the worst kind of person. My legs were sore and I felt sweat drip into my eyes, but I kept going. I'd been to every one of Park's so-called friends, checking all over campus, and not one of them knew anything about where he spent his free time or where he might be now.

I was running out of ideas when Zee called me, nearly screaming with excitement, "Ben! Ben was there last night!"

"What are you yelling about?" I asked, tired and worried.

"Ben, the guy from the Medical Faculty," Jae yelled into the phone, talking over his brother, who was also yelling, "Ben was at the bar last night. He's friends with Park."

Of course, why hadn't I thought of him? If Park was close to anyone, it would be that guy. Ben was too cold, too smart, and too arrogant to be good friends with anyone, but he and Park had a certain rapport. Ben didn't seem like a bad guy though, and I could only hope he wasn't. I turned and headed to the Medical Faculty.

"Ben!" I yelled, seeing the person I was looking for. "I need to talk to you."

"Is it important?" Ben asked, stopping briefly. "I've got a class right now."

"My friend was abducted last night," I said, getting right to the point. "Park has something to do with it. Do you know where he would go?"

"You're kidding, right?" Ben asked, raising his eyebrows. "Not a good joke, man."

He started to walk away, but I grabbed his arm to stop him, "It's not a joke. I think Park might hurt him."

"You could get in trouble for making accusations like that," Ben said, trying to pull away.

"I don't care if I get in trouble," I said, angrily. Yo was my friend, he'd helped me get my life back together, given me a new job, and even talked Knock into giving our relationship another chance. "I can't let Park hurt Yo."

"Wait, are you talking about Wayo Panitchayasawad? This year's Science Moon?" Ben asked, stopping and looking interested for once.

"I don't know about Science Moon, but that's Yo's name. Park abducted him," I answered quickly. Ben looked a little uncertain, so I prodded him. "If you know something and don't tell me, you'll be responsible for what happens to him. I really believe Park wants to hurt him."

"Normally, I wouldn't get involved, but I'll make an exception for the Panitchayasawad family," Ben said, looking through his phone for something.

"Not that I'm questioning your help, but what do you mean you'd make an exception for Yo's family?"

"The Panitchayasawad's unknowingly saved my whole family. I guess I've always felt like I owed them a debt," Ben answered and continued. "We were going on a vacation, but at the last minute my dad got a job offer that he couldn't turn down. The Panitchayasawad Corporation hired him and asked him to start working immediately. They even offered to pay for our whole vacation if we waited until the project was done. My aunt and uncle chartered a boat, so dad wanted to start his job after we came back but his new boss was adamant. The boat sank and everyone on board died. My family would have been there too, if his boss hadn't demanded that he stay. Dad wondered about it later, because he said the work wasn't even time sensitive."

Finding what he wanted, Ben wrote on a piece of paper and handed it to me, "This is a place that Park goes sometimes. It's private and not the kind of place you want to go alone. I only went there once, but if he was doing something that he didn't want to get caught doing, I bet he'd go there."

Kao's POV

I laid down on the bed in the security room, trying to take a nap. I'd been awake all day yesterday, most of last night and all of today, but I could only toss and turn as sleep eluded me. Korn had an address, a place to start, and I wanted to go get Yo. To hell with waiting for warrants or probable cause. I didn't have time for that. Yo was missing, that was all that mattered.
