Chapter 9

*Sophia's POV*

After Lucca had gotten me to calm down a bit, he asked if I still wanted to go and visit his parents today. I said yes because I really should just get this over and done with. She can't hurt me anymore because I have Lucca and my family by my side.

We shortly arrived at Lucca's parents' mansion and right now, that feeling of anxiousness came flooding back.

Lucca sensed it immediately, giving me a soft nod and held onto my hand. I'm so thankful to have him in my life.

I nodded back as he got out and opened my door for me to help me out. We walked up to the double doors of his parents' mansion and rang the doorbell.

Lucca kept his fingers interlaced with mine as we waited for someone to open the door.

Soon enough the woman in all her glory opened the door. When she noticed who it was she completely ignored me and tried to hug Lucca with a bright smile plastered on her face.

"Ahhhh Lucca my baby boy how-" she stopped mid sentence at the look Lucca was sending her way and rejecting her embrace.

"Lucca what is the matter, why are you acting so strange son?"

Lucca chuckled bitterly and looked away from her for a brief moment, then looked back at her with a disgusted look.

"Your son? Do you even deserve to call yourself a mother after what you did to Sophia?! How much you hurt me from taking her away from me?! DID YOU EVER THINK ABOUT WHAT THAT DID TO ME?!!" He fumed at her while she just stood there shocked. Although out of nowhere she turned to me glaring and reached out to choke me, quickly wrapping her hands around my throat.

What. the. fuck was happening right now

I could barely process what was happening right now, her hands were only around my neck for a brief second before they were roughly torn away by Lucca grabbing her off of me.

"DON'T YOU EVER LAY A FUCKING FINGER ON HER EVER AGAIN!! DON'T THINK BECAUSE YOU GAVE BIRTH TO ME, YOU CAN CALL YOURSELF MY MOTHER. A MOTHER IS SOMEONE WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR CHILD'S HAPPINESS AND SAFETY. AND YOU!! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A COLD, HEARTLESS, PSYCHO!" He screamed at her while she just stood there looking at him in disbelief.

"What's with all the yelling, my God-" we heard another familiar voice coming out.

"Lucca what are you doing here- Oh my god!! Sophia?!" and there stood Vincenzo Del'mario smiling at us surprised with our presence.

"Dad call Absterhill. Tell them we've got a patient for them to see" Lucca said glaring at his mother.

"That mental institute? Why? What's going on? Sophia? What's happening?" Vincenzo asked concerned

"I think we should go inside. We'll tell you everything"
It was Lucca's mother that now spoke up. And for the first time in what felt like a long time, I heard her voice go quiet— it sounded like regret.

We all made our way inside and were now seated in the living room.

Lucca was sitting next to me, continuously glaring at his mother who sat across from us with her husband next to her.
Vincenzo looked confused with an expression upon his face that made it clear he was looking for answers.

"Well— is anyone going to speak up now? Lucca why are you glaring at your mother like that? Marissa? Why is he looking at you like that?" Vincenzo was asking all these questions with curiosity until Lucca finally spoke up.

"This lady sitting across from me, can't be called my mother. She needs help" Lucca spoke venomously

"What are you talking about? Sophia what's he talking about?" Vincenzo asked me as to which I just looked down at my lap avoiding their gazes.

"It all started..." Lucca trailed off telling the whole story from the beginning to what I told him, up until now— where Marissa tried to choke me.

By the end of it, Marissa had her head down in shame and was sobbing quietly. Vincenzo looked shocked and hurt. Lucca seemed angry but also pained as he sat there looking at them both.

"Please tell me it's not true Marissa..." Vincenzo trailed off looking at his wife now

"I-I'm s-sorry, I need help. I know okay! I'll get help" Marissa sobbed

After a few more moments of silence Vincenzo spoke up with an exasperated sigh

"I can't take this right now..." and like that Lucca's dad got up, grabbed his keys and left out the front doors.

"I'm going to go make a few calls" Lucca said and got up walking over to the fireplace facing us.

A few hours went by and Vincenzo came back in with a bunch of guys in uniform with hats.

"Mrs Marissa Del'mario. You have been registered as a patient of Absterhill mental hospital. Please come with us" one of the men in uniform spoke up

Before she left through the doors, she turned to me and Lucca with teary eyes— you could see the regret clearly in them. I admit a part of me felt really sorry for her but I cant forget what she did to me or to Lucca.

"I'm so sorry" she whispered softly as they took her away

I don't know whether I should be happy or sad. Happy that I won't be living a life in fear anymore. Or sad because Lucca had to go through all of this. His own mother being the one to hurt us— the woman that raised him.

Vincenzo said he had work things to take care of. Before leaving to attend to his business he mentioned that we should make sure to come visit again whenever we like. His face held a look of pain and sadness but you could also see he didn't want to discuss anything regarding Lucca's mother further.

I looked over at Lucca and his face was emotionless. I touched his arm and looked up at him.

"Want to go home?" I asked softly

"Yeah, today was just too much for me. Let's go home baby" he kissed my forehead softly and we left to go home.

I had called my parents and told them about everything that happened today. They were happy seeing as though she got taken away and was getting help, but they also felt sad for Lucca and Vincenzo.

Today was quite a day for the both of us, first the Steph and Max incident. Then having to deal with Marissa— it was a lot for one day. Right now I just want to cuddle with my big baby and comfort him, because that's all he really needs now.
