Chapter 17

A/N: YOOOOO! It's Mvil! Sorry for the long wait. I promise it was for a good reason!! I've been busy with online school and to be completely honest my sleep schedule is beyond messed up =(!! So it's a bit hard to get a good writing schedule. But ONE thing is for certain,, I am not planning of dropping this story anytime soon!! I like to take my time and if you guys are fine with a very unscheduled story then please keep reading:)!!! ILY ALL <3.

Yuzu's POV:

I looked at the time and saw it was five in the morning. I was up early planning the long-awaited date for Mei and I! I was thinking that we can go to see a movie. I know Mei isn't one for romances so maybe a drama or thriller? After the movie we can go to get some dinner at a cafe near the theater and then go around the area to do some errands or shopping. Lastly, we can then watch the sunset at a place I used to go to! To be completely honest sorting it in my head was a bit difficult but it doesn't sound that bad! I was currently outside the room, enjoying the balcony view.

"Man.. I forgot the feeling of waking up early and being excited for something. Ever since he died... I didn't feel the urge to do anything except for going to school and at times hang out with Harumin.." I thought.

I smiled to myself at the thought of how much Mei changed me in just a span of a couple of weeks. I stretched my body and yawned, shivers went down my spine from the morning breeze.

"Jeesh it's cold!" I complained and deciding to go back inside.

I tiptoed around the bed that Mei and I shared, being mindful of the sleeping beauty. I made it into the bathroom and decided to take a shower and get ready for the days activities.

My shower finished, I checked my phone and it was now 5:30 in the morning. I was thinking that we can leave at 10am so we can get to the theaters and catch a 12pm movie. I dried my hair and went back into the room to see Mei still sleeping.

I smiled and looking at Mei's sleeping face,"Wow, who knew someone can look so gorgeous while they are sleeping..."

The next thing I knew my hand was lightly moving Mei's hair behind her ear. My hand froze when I heard light mumbling coming from the beauty.

"Mmm.. who?" Mei mumbled and opened one eye to peek at the person that disturbed her sleep.

"Haha... Good morning Mei.." I sheepishly took my hand away and rubbed at my neck nervously.

"Yuzu..?" Mei questioned, she turned around to look at the clock and saw how early it was.

"Why are you awake so early?" Mei asked,

"Ah! I was up planning our date today..." I chuckled.

Mei shot up from bed, realization and excitement was plastered on her face, "What time do we have to leave?"

"Pfttt Mei.. We don't have to leave until like 10am.." I said.

"Oh okay... How about I take a shower and you can teach me how to cook breakfast? I need to start learning sooner or later right? I want to start contributing in the household." Mei asked.

I smiled and nodded, "That sounds good. We can start simple if you like. Does eggs, bacon and toast seem fine with you?"

Mei nodded and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I went to the kitchen to bring all the cooking utensils and food out. I turned on the TV and switched to the news channel. The weather for today seemed nice. I noticed that the news had been talking about random muggings around the area. I made sure to keep that in mind when we go out today.

I heard the bathroom door open and saw Mei coming out with a gust of steam with her. She walked into the kitchen, her hair still mildly damp.

"Okay I'm ready. What do we do first?" Mei asked,

"Well first come here." I said,

Mei walked over to the kitchen counter and viewed the various items on the counter.

"Okay Mei, so first you would want to crack open some eggs. I'd say two eggs are enough for two people. You crack them into the measuring cup and add a dash of milk, salt, and pepper." I instructed.

"Ah right, milk makes them fluffy." Mei said, while she did what she was told to do.

"Oh? Glad you remembered." I smiled and said.

"Next you mix it thoroughly, you can leave that aside now. We'll start with cooking the bacon first. You don't have to put oil on the pan since the bacon has enough oil in it. Last time you made the mistake of putting the stove at high heat. It's just fine to have it at medium heat." I said.

Mei turned the stove on at medium heat and waited for the pan to heat up. She laid four slices of bacon on the pan evenly and saw it started to sizzle.

"I'd say just leave it on one side each for about 3 minutes. Okay while that cooks we can start with the eggs."

"Ah- wait Yuzu.. Can we start with finishing the bacon first? I don't want to mess it up and focusing on two things at once in cooking isn't something I'm particularly good at." Mei said,

I blushed at the cute expression on Mei's face, "Of-of course Mei."

After the bacon was cooked, we started with the eggs. Mei brought up a clean pan and laid it on the stovetop.

"So you will want to butter up the pan until its thoroughly oiled. Then simply just pour the substance onto the pan and move it around until it's cooked." I said,

"It's that easy huh?" Mei said while she started to pour the eggs onto the pan.

After everything was done Mei and I sat at the diner table about to eat our food.

"Yuzu. I forgot to ask earlier but why does Mother go to work so early?" Mei asked,

A/N: Even if Mei call's Ume "Mother" it has been mostly out of respect since Ume took her in to their home. I just like to point out again that Ume isn't married to Sho in this AU. Yuzu and Mei aren't sisters not even by marriage in here. I wanted to change it since most citrus fanfictions are really key to sticking with that same storyline.

"Mama has days where she goes to work around 4am and doesn't come back until around evening. But it gives her opportunities to have more off days, though." I said,

"Oh I see, that makes it more worth it when I think about it." Mei said,

"Plus there is one benefit of Mama going to work so early like this." I said, Mei looked at me waiting for me to finish my sentence.

"We get to have the house to ourselves a lot." I said with a blush.

Mei's blush went to her ears, "Don't get any ideas Okogi."

"Ah jeez.. Okogi now? Mei don't be mad! I was kidding." I complained,

"I know Yuzu, eat your food now before it gets cold." Mei said with a chuckle,

"Ah right! Thank you for the food!" I said before I started to eat.

"Wow Mei! It's good! Good job on making breakfast. Do you think you can do it by yourself?" I asked,

"Yeah, especially since it's so simple. But I'd like to learn more difficult dishes later on."

"Ah, so eager aren't you Mei?", I teased.

"O-of course I am! I just want to learn quickly." Mei said.

I laughed and looked at the time and saw it was about 7am now.

"I think I could you an extra hour of shuteye... What about you Mei?",

"I slept long enough. You can go to sleep Yuzu, and I'll wake you up at around 9am."

"Okay. Thank you Mei." I said while I went back to the bedroom to catch some sleep.

I got comfy on the bed and slowly started to drift to sleep, before I did I thought, " I can't wait for our date!"

A/N: AND DONE! I felt like i was writing a cook book to be honest! But do not worry! Next chapter will be about the date filled with fluff and maybe something else? hehe!
