A/N Sorry Sorry sorry! I haven't updated in a while AHHH. It's okay now, I'm back. So I'll start writing again. MUST WRITE FASTER!!
Btw, the dog above is another dog you will meet soon. *Wink wink*
A shadow loomed over the book Rey was reading and she looked up expecting to see some overcast clouds. But no, it was the older woman from the neighboring bench. The tiny poodle in her arms shivered, despite there being no chill in the air. Rey smiled kindly at the woman.
"Good afternoon." Rey said, cheerfully at the woman. The woman frowned at her in response.
"Is that your dog over there?" The old lady remarked, her voice croaking with a disapproving tone to it.
"Actually-" Rey said, looking towards the center of the park.
In the middle of the dog park.
For everyone to see.
Poor little Sasha was being mounted from behind.
By a black lab.
"SASHA NO!" Rey yelled, abandoning her book on the bench and sprinting towards Sasha.
The blonde woman scooped up her Pomeranian and shot Rey a disgusted look over the tops of her Gucci sunglasses before making a beeline for the exit. The guy with their phones started laughing at the display while the other two people in the park looked on in horror.
"Get off her!" Rey yelled at the black lab. The dogs tongue lolled out of his mouth as he kept going. Sasha was basically unphased, curiously tilting her head at Rey as if to ask 'what's the matter?'
"JUSTIN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Came a very stern and deep voice from behind Rey.
She turned to see the man belonging to the booming voice. He was tall with mid-length black hair with a little bit of facial hair. He obviously had ear buds in, though one of them had come loose in his hurry to the scene of the.. well.. the incident. His brown eyes widened in shock at the sight before him. He made to grab the dog's collar to yank him away, but Rey latched onto the mans hand to stop him.
"Don't! You'll hurt them!" Rey shouted at the man. The man stared at her, dumbfounded.
"Is this your dog?" The man asked, pointing down at Sasha.
"No! I mean yes! I mean, well. Kind of. I'm dog sitting for a friend.
The man groaned in frustration.
"Justin, get off her this instant!" The man commanded. The dog just panted as he continued his motions.
"Oh my god, this is so embarrassing." Rey muttered as she covered her reddening face.
"Tell me about it, lady." The man replied, as he placed his hands on his hips and shook his head down at the ground.Sasha let out a yip. Rey uncovered her face to see that the black lab had.. FINALLY.. finished.
"Great." The man said to his dog sarcastically. "You done? Let's go." The man fished a lead out of his back pocket and dangled it at the dog.
Rey scoffed.
"You're not going anywhere until he's out of my dog!"
"I thought you said she's not your dog!""I'm her caregiver. Anyway, you can't leave. Don't you know how long-" Rey gestured at the dogs. "this works?"
The man looked Rey up and down thoughtfully. Rey felt her face flush from anger. Or embarrassment. Maybe both.
"I know how nature works." He replied, angrily.
"Well it's different with dogs. You.. you kind of need to wait for them to detach."
"Wait how long?" The man asked. Rey shrugged, looking at Sasha.
"I don't know. Five to ten minutes at least. This has never happened."
"Mmm." The man replied. Everyone else had evacuated the dog park. He looked down at the knotted dogs. He sighed as he removed his earbuds and wrapped it around his phone, placing it in his back pocket.
"What's her name?" He asked, crouching to give Sasha a pat on the head.
"That's Sasha." Rey replied. "Your dogs name is Justin?"
"Yes." The man said, standing to full height. "That's an odd name." Rey said, and the man frowned.
"Yeah, I'm a Justin Timberlake fan." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, and rocked back and forth on his heels.
"He's a lab too?" Rey asked, glancing at the black dog. He was a little taller than Sasha. He tried to approach her, but he was still attached to Sasha.
"Yeah. He's a black lab. I'm guessing yours is a golden lab, right?"
"Physcotic much?" Rey asked, and they laughed.
"I'm uh.. I'm Rey by the way." Rey reached out a hand awkwardly towards the man. He stared down at her hand for a second before shaking it.
"Ben. Ben Solo."
"Nice to meet you." Rey said politely.
"Nice to meet you too." Ben said with a smirk, "although I do wish it was different circumstances."
Rey chuckled. "True. This has been pretty embarrassing."
"They don't seem to mind." Ben said, gesturing to the dogs.
Sasha wiggled her behind and trotted over to Rey, having been finally released from Justin. Rey immediately clipped her lead. Ben was doing the same with Justin.
"Here." Ben said, holding a piece of paper out towards Rey. Rey looked confused as she took the card from him.
'First Orders.' read the card. It was also stamped with a address, a phone number, and an email.
"Just in case you need to get a hold of me."
"Oh okay. Thank you Ben." Rey said, and pocketed the card.
"Come on girl, let's get going." Rey said to Sasha. Sasha wandered over to Justin and they sniffed each other for a moment before Sasha gave Justin a lick on his face.
"Okay, that's enough Sasha. You've had your fun." Rey said, reaching down to pick up Sasha. Sasha pouted in Rey's arms as Rey hurried from the dog park. It wasn't until late that evening that Rey realized she had forgotten her book on the bench.
