Third Person P.O.V
This was definitely not something either girls were planning.
Natasha had a free day so she had taken the opportunity and decided to watch the 1984 film "Karate Kid". It had been one of her favorite movies growing up and she always had found the storyline interesting. It was also one of the reasons she loved doing martial arts, it was almost as if she was in the movie. She was sitting on the couch, watching the movie when her girlfriend came inside the room.
"What are you watching?" Wanda asked plopping down on the couch.
"Karate Kid, it's my favorite movie." Natasha said gladly taking her in for a cuddle.
"Oh, that's fun. I love the movie, Jaden Smith did an amazing job." Wanda casually said, earning a death stare from Natasha.
"What? No, I'm watching the original version. With Ralph Macchio? The good version." Natasha said, slipping in a comment in the end.
"Um, excuse you but the 2009 version is amazing." Wanda spat.
"I mean, it's okay but it's not better. The script is much better, there's not even a doubt there. The actors did such an amazing job portraying their roles, and Mr. Miyagi is adorable." Natasha argued.
"Are you kidding me? The soundtrack in the newer version is much better and the fight scenes are better." Wanda argued back.
"Fight scenes are better? Are you joking? The final fight of the original movie is so much more thrilling, it gives you chills. Also, in the newer version they teach the kid Jiu Jitsu, not Karate. Wouldn't that mean that it should be "Jiu Jitsu Kid"? Don't embarrass yourself babe, you won't win this argument." Natasha said, sitting up and pausing the movie, walking over to the kitchen.
"Well, my version has Justin Bieber and it actually is in China." Wanda said following her to the kitchen.
"I mean, I like Justin's song but we have Ralph Macchio, we win darling." Natasha proudly states.
"How old is he? Like, 60?" Wanda asked following Natasha back to the living room.
"Hey, isn't Jaden like 20 something?" Natasha answered back.
"You only like the original version because you're old." Wanda said annoyed.
"Hey, I'm not old. I just have better taste." Natasha fought back.
"How about this? Let's watch both movies and then we can decide which movie is better." Wanda suggested.
Natasha agreed and restarted the movie. She sat there and admired all the scenes all over again. The first scene that Danny is in. All the sweet moments between Mr. Miyagi and Danny. The first time he properly fights or did a move. When he starts working every harder for what he wants. How good he looks throughout the movie. The scene where he gets the car. When he goes out with his love interest for the first time. All the training scenes. When the championship began. Each fight that happened. When he started getting badly injured, and when he won. Wanda truly has never seen Natasha as happy and relaxed as she was when she was watching the scene where Danny won.
"Okay, what did you think?" Natasha asked.
To be very honest Wanda barely payed any attention, she kept her eyes on Natasha. On how her facial expressions kept changing with each scene, on the smile she kept on her face the entire movie, on the silent tears that escaped her eyes when he won. Every little detail, and she loved looking at how it affected Natasha.
"I loved it." Wanda said.
"Wait really?" Natasha asked excited.
"Yeah, I did. But now you need to watch the newer version." Wanda mentioned, finding the newer version and putting it on.
Wanda sat back and looked at everything. The scenery, the way they portrayed Dre. The training he did. Although she was correct, the soundtrack of this movie was a bit better than the original, the movie itself wasn't as good. He didn't actually do karate, the love story was honestly weird considering they were all 12 years old. The story behind this one wasn't as meaningful as the original one. Although she did sing loudly when Justin Bieber's song started playing.
"So, what did you think?" Wanda finally asked when the movie ended.
"It's a good movie, but nothing will ever be as good as the original version." Natasha said standing from her spot and gathering all her things.
"I agree." Wanda whispered causing Natasha to stop in her spot and turn around to face Wanda.
"What?" Natasha asked, a small hint of a smile on her face.
"I agree with you. The original version is much better." Wanda said, thinking of the smile that Natasha had while watching the movie.
"Really? That's great, what made you change your mind?" Natasha asked sitting back down.
"Nothing much, it doesn't matter, but you win." Wanda said with a big smile on her face.
Natasha stood back up, the same smile he had a few hours ago displayed on her face again. She walked back to the kitchen leaving a smiling Wanda behind. Of course she changed her mind, after seeing Natasha's reaction to the movie and how much it mattered to her, that movie would be the best movie of all time.
Just because it made Natasha happier than ever, she would let her win this time.
***
This was fun to write! In my opinion the original movie is better and will always be iconic. Also, Ralph Macchio remains attractive, like he's almost 60 years old, but he's really hot. But the Justin song in the newer version is just soooo good! Which one do you guys like better?
Also, sorry I haven't been posting much. I was having a rough time, school started again, and yesterday my boyfriend broke up with me so it isn't the best time, but I'm excited to be back and better than ever. Thank you for all the support, all the love. Love you guys!
