I groggily open my eyes while mustering up the courage to look at the clock, which read 11:58 am. Mom would never let me sleep until noon...wonder what's up with that. I drag my feet out of bed and head straight for my bathroom. I throw on my favorite cropped graphic tee and a little mascara. Once I'm done I head downstairs to get some food. Where is everyone?
"Mom? Zach? Grace?" No answer, no note, and no texts or calls. I walk into the kitchen and head to the fridge, or as I like to call it the box of glory. I grab the milk and the yogurt I wrote my name on so Zach wouldn't take it. It's Saturday so they aren't at church and heaven knows my mom would never let me sleep in and skip it, so I know it's not Sunday. I finish my yogurt and quickly do the dishes before heading back up to my room. I grab my book off my nightstand and climb back into bed. I must have fallen asleep because I wake up to my cat sitting on my chest pawing at my face.
"Is there still nobody else in this house who can give you attention?" I grab my phone and see I have 4 missed calls and 6 text messages. How did that not wake me up? I pull up my calls and see 2 were from my mom, one was from Zach and the other was from Jessica. The texts were just from a group chat I'm in with some friends. I text my mom to see if she needed anything.
"Are you seriously texting me when I'm right down the hall?" I burst out laughing and make my way to my mom's room.
"I didn't know you guys were back."
"Back from where?"
"I woke up earlier and no one was home."
"Honey we have been home all day. You must have been dreaming." There is no way I was dreaming it was way too real...way to vivid. I couldn't have been dreaming, right?
"Honey are you ok? Are you having your episodes again?"
"What no I-I'm fine. I'm gonna go to the store and grab a couple of things I will be back later."
"Ok, I would like you home by 10 tonight because we have church in the morning."
"Ok, mom." I grab my purse and keys and practically fly out to my car. It wasn't an episode...I haven't had them in 2 years! It could not have been an episode I must have been dreaming! I pull in the parking lot of the grocery store and wait for the guy I'm meeting.
