The weekend went by in a flash and Monday morning came quickly. I woke up to sunlight flooding the room. Olive was already up, brushing her wavy hair. Selene was fixing her tie in the mirror and Margie had just stepped out of bed. This would be the start of our second week.

The day went as usual, classes falling into schedule like always. During my free period I met up with Olive, and we studied for our Herbology exam in the courtyard.

"I just don't understand this! I'm going to fail Herbology!", Olive exclaimed while dramatically hiding her face with her hands.

"Come on Olive, you just need to remember the few plants we've studied so far. Here, I made a chart.", I said, pulling out the parchment where I organized my work.

While Olive was looking over the paper, I noticed some Gryffindor boys laughing together while tossing around a familiar book. It was Tom's, the one I saw him writing in on Friday night. He basically always had it, how could they have gotten it from him? I tried to listen in on what they were saying.

"I bet big bad Tom Riddle is going through some separation anxiety without his beloved diary.", Charles Ruetic said mockingly.

He was a popular Gryffindor, it got to his head and made him overly smug. Not to mention he was a heartbreaker. Hopefully one day someone will destroy his heart in return.

"Hey maybe we should leave it in the library so he can find it, we've messed around with it enough.", Connor cut in, he was another popular Gryffindor. I was surprised he spoke up, Charles was someone you didn't want to contradict.

"Oh please, he deserves it.", a different boy replied, "Plus Charles earned it, taking it from him. I wouldn't be surprised if Riddle slept with it every night." Charles smirked proudly and the boys all laughed.

"Christine what does this say?", Olive asked, taking my attention away from the ruckus nearby.

"Oh, Devil's Snare. Sorry about that my quil was running out of ink.", I said looking at the faded writing.

"It's no problem.", Olive replied. She nodded over to the Gryffindor boys,"What's going on over there that you're so interested in?"I smiled at her, of course Olive noticed I was preoccupied, she knows me too well.

"I think those boys took Tom Riddle's journal. See that book they're tossing around." I said.

"Christine this is your chance! Go get the book from them and bring it to Tom, he couldn't possibly stay mad at you then.", Olive exclaimed.

"But what if he thinks I took it, I don't want to look as desperate as Shreya.", I sighed, "Plus is it really worth speaking to a group of obnoxious Gryffindors."

"Oh please, don't overthink it. You'll regret it if you don't do anything.", she answered.

"Alright fine.", I said. Olive did a little clap and smiled at me.

I got up from the grass and approached the boys. As soon as they detected me I wanted to turn back around.

"Hey blondie, come to mingle with the Gryffindor boys?", Charles said with a grin.

"You wish.", I replied and rolled my eyes. "I'm actually here to retrieve a book you took from a fellow Slytherin of mine, right there.", I turned to Connor and pointed at the journal in his hands.

"What makes you think we would give it to you.", a boy from the back of the group stated.

"Hey," Charles said, "let's not be rude. Maybe we can workout a deal." I looked at him confused. This better be worth it. "If you let me take you out, we'll give you the book." he continued with a smug look.

"No way.", I replied flatly.

"Ok then, suit yourself." Charles answered, turning on his heel.

I wanted Tom to find respect for me, but for a date with Charles Ruetic? Really? What other options would I have though, this could be my chance to prove myself.

"Wait.", I cringed as the word left my mouth. "I'll go with you, just give me the book." The boys howled, how nasty.

"Aye Charles you got yourself a date with the Princess of Slytherin.", Connor said with a smirk handing me the journal. Regret washed over me, but I had too much pride to change my decision.
