I was slightly concerned when I heard knocking, so I cautiously opened the door. On my doorstep stood a shivering wet, scared looking young woman. Her dark hair plastered to her downcast face. she looked familiar to me
" sorry to bother you but-" that voice told me exactly who it was. I would know that angelic voice anywhere I cut her off
" Isabella?" She looked me in the eyes. Yep that was her. I only knew of one person with eyes like that. She froze when she met my gaze. Her face turned panicked
" Phineas? Oh no no no!" I thought she was gonna run away, but thunder crashed behind her and she jumped. I remembered that she was afraid of storms.
" Come on in you need to get dry." I said. She began to protest but was convinced by the sudden flash of lightning. She squeaked and almost leapt through the door. I quickly located a fluffy towel and she draped it around her shoulders. She looked everywhere but at me.
" I'm sorry to barge in on you, but my car broke down about five miles north of here and this was the first place I saw to get out of the Storm." She mumbled, I grinned
" Not a problem, now I'm thinking you need a warm shower and a change of clothes. Mine will be big on you, but they will work." She stared at me like I had grown another head and didn't move. So I grabbed her shoulder and gently guided her towards the bathroom she removed the towel and turned to me. She looked equal parts terrified and grateful
" Th-thank you." She stuttered. I took that moment to take in her appearance. With how wet her clothes were I could see that she had filled out a lot since I had last seen her. She was lean, curvy and fit all at the same time, she still had long beautiful raven black hair and like I mentioned before sparkly blue eyes I grinned once more at her before turning to go get some clothes for her. I grabbed some to small sweat pants and a old t-shirt. Back at the bathroom door I knocked and told her the clothes were on the floor in the hall way. I heard a muffled " thanks" from the bathroom as the water turned on.
I strode over to the couch and sat down. I could not believe that after all these years Isabella Garcia-Shapiro was here. In my house. I hadn't heard a word from her since the day she left for college. I winced at the memory. Her final words to me had haunted me ever since she uttered them
" To think I ever loved you!" I sighed wishing we hadn't parted on such bad terms. I wished I had noticed. I thought I was so far in the friend zone I hadn't paid attention to all her now obvious signs. Then there was Charlotte, my first girlfriend, she had kissed me on graduation day. I kissed her back. Biggest regret of my life. I had gained a girlfriend only to lose my best friend/ love of my flipping life. And later Charlotte had cheated on me. By that time all my friends were mad at me even Ferb was furious, so I simply left. A few months later I had successfully gained most of my friends and my brother back. But I never heard from Isabella until today.
" Um, Phineas?" Her voice shook me out of my thoughts I looked up and almost passed out. My sweat pants fell on her hips just right and my old shirt accented her curves. Her wet hair was casually thrown over her shoulder. My heart began beating faster and I said something along the lines of
" Uhhhhhh" yep smooth Phineas. She hesitantly walked over and sat on the other end of my couch curling up as far from me as she could get. She glanced at the window with fear in her eyes
" Still not a storm fan?" I said smiling. She began to say something, but lightning flashed and she buried her face in her hands with an adorable little squeal. She peeked through her fingers and saw my raised eyebrow.
" S-shut up." Her voice shook and a wave of protectiveness washed over me. I resisted the urge to hug her. Instead I chuckled. She rolled her eyes and looked away. I caught the discomfort in her eyes and began scrambling for something to say.
" Uh how have you been. I haven't seen you in forever." She shrugged
" Fine." Was the short reply. Frowning I tried again.
" How's college?" Her eyes lit up for just a moment 'there she is' I thought. But her eyes dulled just as fast.
" Good really good." My frown deepened.
" You ok?" I asked, She nodded
" Yeah. Just tired. It been an eventful day." I laughed
" That it has. Do you want my bed? I can sleep here on the couch." She shook her head still not looking at me.
" No here is fine."
" You sure?" She nodded. I gave up and walked to my room and grabbed an extra blanket and pillow. After handing them to her I stood and leaned against the wall watching her put together a little makeshift bed when she finished I spoke
" Need anything else?"
" No I think I'm good."
" Alright. If you do need something. I'm just down the hall. Don't hesitate to wake me up if you need me." She looked at me and allowed a tiny smile to grace her lips.
" Thanks again Phineas." I stared at her for just a moment before turning back and walking into my room. I flopped face first on my bed and groaned into my pillow. Why had I ever let Isabella go? I stayed up late partially because of the storm raging outside and partially because of the storm raging in my mind. There at he center of my storm was my old best friend. Isabella Garcia-Shapiro
